What is the best course of action for my daughter if all of her front teeth are removed?

Monday, September 6th, 2010
Q.
My daughter suffered a trauma to her 2 upper front teeth as a child and had crowns fitted. At age now 22 she has had root canal and surgery to try and clear an infection that has occured around the root. If the infection re-occurs she has been told there is no more treatment available and her teeth will have to be removed. She has a massive phobia about her teeth and dentists as a result of her accident and always has to be sedated she is even having counselling to help her with this but her councellor has informed her she will have no front teeth for about 6 weeks if they have to be removed and she is distraught. Can you advise the best course of action if she does have to have them removed and what the process would be. Since the accident I have always taken her to a private dentist and am aware of the costs but I want her to have the best available because of her phobia. Please can you help,

How much would it cost to replace 3 teeth?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Q.
Good morning Dr Solanki, I have recently lost a couple of teeth due to, I’m unhappy to say, poor care and lack of regular dental appointments. Truth is, the thought of going to the dentist petrifies me. When I’m in the “Reclining chair of pain” which I like to call it, I shake uncontrollably and as much as the shades I’m given make me want to believe I’m on a beach, there’s still a man poking around in my mouth that I’m not 100% at ease with. Due to the loss of these teeth, I have strongly considered cosmetic surgery and having dental implants put in to replace them. I have read the implants page of the website and the information is seems sound, especially that I can be put under if I’m extremely anxious. I was wondering however, what the proposed cost might be to replace these three teeth, being a lower left molar, lower right bicuspid and lower right molar. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time,
,

I’m have a large fear of going to the dentist, but my teeth need sorting out. Is there anything that can help?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
I really don’t know how I can make the first step in getting my teeth sorted out. I’ve not been to a dentist for about 12 years and some of the front ones have areas of brown on them although none seem actually loose. They look so unsightly and I’m so ashamed of them as no one I know of my age (early 40s) has teeth that look like mine. What is the easiest first step I could make that would enable me to actually be able to set foot over the threshold of a dental surgery and overcome the fear I have of a first appointment? And secondly in very broad terms if someone hasn’t been to a clinic for so many years – how many appointments would I be likely to need to put things right. Thank you: even writing this email has been a huge step for me.,

What is an alveoplasty?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
i would like to know what an alveoplasty is exactly, and what i can expect, pain wise, after it’s over. i had an extraction of tooth #18 done 3/18/10, and the site had to be gone into 3 more times due to continual problems i was having. my jaw bone is sticking out of the gum a bit, and i was referred to an oral surgeon. he informed me of what needs to be done, he will file the bone down and check the socket to make sure nothing else is going on, and as a result, this will stir things up again and delay the healing process. what can happen if this isn’t taken care of?,
