I Don’t Want A Gap, What Could I Do To Replace My Broken Tooth?

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013
Q.

I have a broken tooth which has been filled. My dentist informs me there is insufficient tooth remaining for a crown, or cap as these are likely to break off which may be dangerous as I may swallow it and choke. Also, as there is only one tooth to one side of it (top upper right) my dentist says a bridge would not be suitable. I can not afford an implant and do not want a gap. Is there anything else that could be done?

I’ve had root canal treatment and my teeth are discoloured, can you offer advice to rescue my teeth?

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I don’t really know where to start, but i’m extremely down about my teeth 🙁 i’m 19 and just don’t know what to do, I feel the problems with them may be too big to sort. When I was younger I had to have root canal treatment on a front tooth, this left it very grey, I have since had a crown but they still don’t look right. Also, my bottom teeth became very rotten so i’ve had lots of work done on them, but they look awful as the white fillings I had are becoming discoloured. My teeth are far from straight, they all seem to be different colours. I just don’t understand it because i’ve always looked after them, but my dad had a lot of problems with his teeth & so has my mum. This is beginning to rule my life, I think about how hideous my teeth look 24/7. I saved up £400 to have this crown done which looks awful. I just don’t know where to turn, but at the age of 19 i’m not willing to live the rest of my life like this. So if you have an advice i’d be extremely grateful, i’m willing to save up any amount of money, no matter how long it takes. I also have pictures but not sure how to attach them on here. Thank you in advance.

Can you recommend a dentist in London to help save my broken tooth?

Friday, March 11th, 2011
Q.

Briefly:
The filling of my 7th down right which has had a canal therapy few years ago, has split in two vertically. I had a Rx at the hospital but they adviced the tooth to be extracted. No mention to post crowns at all.
I recently searched the internet as I have had an experience with a post crown on the 6th up left, and came across a website where I found a few articles (I am afraid in Italian) talking about very difficult situations, solved with gum surgery, bone reconstruction and post crown. I would like to know if you have ever come across to this kind of problems and if exist in London a good Dental Surgeon able to do this kind of job. If at the end the only solution is the implant, it will be welcome, but if I have the opportunity to save in any way my tooth than I would be happier.
Here are the links. and very similar to my case according to this Italian dentist whom I had a email exchange [www.dentisti-italia.it/casi_clinici/parodontologia/161_terapia-chirurgica-delle-lesioni-di-i-ii-iii-class.html]

Thank you very much for your interest and kindness to read this question.

Would a 3 week gap between treatments cause a problem for me?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Tennet, Last time I had a problem with a tooth, I was not aware of the problem until I went on a plane journey and experienced pain shortly after take off. Today I have just started root canal treatment which may take a further two visits to the dentist. I am a little worried because I am due to fly to Australia and may not have completed the full course of treatment by the time I leave. Do you think , having started the treatment, that I am less likely to experience a similar experience during the flight? And, would a three week gap between treatments cause a problem. I may be worrying unnecessarily but would not like to have problems during the flight. The dentist is hoping to be able to clean the canal at my next visit in a week’s time and depending on it’s condition complete the work three days later which will be the day before I fly. Obviously, I could have the tooth removed but would prefer not to do so at this stage. Advice on my options if this happens would be appreciated. Your advice would be most welcome. Yours sincerely,
,
