I have a front tooth that has had a root canal done

Friday, September 26th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a front tooth that has had a root canal done on it a few years ago but it has now got infected and I have an absess on it. The X-rays of the rooth canal all look fine and that the job was done correctly. I am now being advised that I need to have my front tooth extracted which is scaring me as I am only 30 years old and do not want to have a false/implant here. Apparently an apicectomy isn’t going to be much use but I really don’t want to lose the tooth. Can you recommend anything or is an implant the best option for me? If so, can you reassure me that it will look good? Many thanks.

I have been having treatment for a root canal on 2 teeth

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Q.
I have been having treatment for a root canal on two teeth. My dentist believes that white fillings will be best for these teeth is this the cas as I am aware that crowns may be best. Also a fracture tooth needs repaired. She believes that white filling will be best. Is this also the case? Due to my previous illness of anorexia and bulima for over ten years this has erroded my teeth and has left them in bad shape at the back. Is there anyway I can build these teeth back up again? I am also aware that people can become models for students in college. I would be happy to do this if I was to recieve good dental treatment. Thankyou for your help. Kind Regards

My bottom back molar has spiral roots

Friday, September 19th, 2008
Q.
My bottom back molar has spiral roots and required a root canal filling, but after two sessions my dentist was unable to remove any of the nerves completely .So we decided to put a filling in the tooth { because i did not want to lose this tooth }and to see how it went . Six weeks on and the tooth is beginning to give me problems. Is there no other treatment to remove or kill off the nerves in this tooth,if not what options are open to me on the nhs.

pain after having root canal re done

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Q.
After having pain in one of my upper front teeth, I was advised to have two root canals redone. I was still in pain after this treatment and was referred to a periodontist who after examining me proclaimed that I have a bone fracture above my front teeth and a large cyst. I have been advised to have the following treatment: removal of my 4 front teeth 7,8,9 & 10 bone grafting implants on teeth 7 & 10 bridges on teeth 8 & 9 Firstly what would cause a bone fracture? Does this treatment sound like a good option? I am a little wary especially after the initial misdiagnosis, the periodontist did ask why the root canals had been re done and then suggested that maybe the fracture had been missed on previous x-rays (4 were taken before treatment began, and 2 after), is this a likely scenario? The periodontist noticed the fracture on my full mouth x-rays and then confirmed it with 2 more. Apologies if I have muddled my questions somewhat, I am still in shock!

root canal on my front crowns

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Q.
My front four teeth are porcelain crowns. I have been told that two of the crowns are infected and root canal treatment is required. Most of the literature available on this treatment refers to side teeth and does not explain how this treatment is undertaken to front teeth which are already crowned.

I have a tooth infection and need root canal

Monday, September 8th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have been told by my dentist that I have a slight infection in a tooth that has aleady been capped & nerve removed. Penicillin has not made any difference. He has said that the only thing would be to either remove the tooth (which he does not recommend) or see an orthodontist for route canal treatment (costing approx £600.00. Is this true, or can anything else be done? Thanks

I have had infections after poor root canal treatment

Sunday, August 24th, 2008
Q.
Hi. I have been having consultations with a dentist re having a problem root (poor root canal treatment many years ago, since infected on the side, now apparently perforated) removed and replaced with an implant. However, I am a bit concerned and would appreciate some advice. The dentist (private) advertises implants as a service, but despite my requests, after two one hour consultations has been unable to show me photos of a completed implant (apparently they were all held on a computer and got lost) and keeps evading my questions on how many implants they have done by just telling me that he devotes two days a week to implant work of some description (the practice is based in a small town in a not overly affluent part of the country). The only ‘evidence’ available to me so far is the mobile phone no. of a patient who has recently had the implant placed (the crown is not in situ yet). I need to get the tooth removed soon as I can feel the infection starting to return, but am concerned as to whether I would be making the right decision in allowing this dentist to remove the tooth. Could you give me any advice please?

A crown fell off a tooth that had a root canal. What will happen if I don’t replace the crown. The tooth has no pain.

should my crown be sensitive after root canal

Friday, August 15th, 2008
Q.
I had a root canal done over a year ago and had a crown put on the same tooth a couple months ago. That tooth or crown is now rather sensitive at night, when I exercise and at times when I bite down on it; is this normal?
