can teeth be whitened successfully after a root canal

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008
Q.
Is it possible to have teeth whitened successfully that have had a root canal? I have a front tooth and my left canine that have become discolored because of the root canals and it is really starting to inhibit my smiling. Thank you.

I have radiating pain in my upper teeth

Thursday, December 11th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have radiating pain in my upper teeth. I believed it is one of the upper molar. There is nothing wrong with the tooth but I can feel sharp pain radiating. Sometimes, the pain goes away entirely. The gums are bleeding when I floss. Do I need a root canal? I’m scared since I’ve already had two in the past month.

Hi I have a huge concern with my teeth

Monday, December 1st, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a huge concern with my teeth. I have recently been confirmed as having enamel hypoplasia. Can you tell me anything about the etioliogy and pathology of this condition??? The destruction to my teeth is universal and quite serious. I am only 27 years old and this is a major problem for my self-esteem. I have seen a dentist specialising in oral diseases and aeasthetic surgical procedures and he sees my only option as having crowns put on all my 28 teeth (Yes! the damage is chronic!) I am just seeking a second (objective!) opinion based on this diagnosis and advice for treatment. Oh, and would the NHS provide this treatment? (Im assuming not). And another compounding issue is that I am a (struggling) student, financially independent from my parents. Speaking hypothetically, how much would this operation cost in the UK (with 3 root canal treatments also)?? Are the new ‘Procera-zirconium’ crowns the best on the market, and which crowns have the greatest resilience and longevity?? Thankyou.

i was attacked about 4 years ago and ended up with a broken front tooth

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
Q.
I was attacked about 4 years ago and ended up with a broken front tooth, the one to the left of the two centre teeth, i still have just under half the tooth left, it has never caused me any problems although it is a bit awkward, but as it has been so long since it occured am i still able to get a dentist to fit a crown, or would there be a better option, i brush my teeth regulerly and make sure i always pay attention to the broken one, but i would like to get it fixed as i have not smiled in a photo for years, what sort of prices am i looking to pay, where should i go and is a crown the best option ?

I was recently obliged to have a bottom far rear molar tooth canal treated

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
Q.
Hello, I was recently obliged to have a bottom far rear molar tooth root canal treated, but when I went to an NHS dentist afterwards for a crown he told me that wouldn’t be necessary for six months. Now I read that uncrowned root canal teeth are at risk of fracturing especially with a heavy bite like mine. What is your opinion given that I would be hard pushed to finance private crown treatment having already laid out, what for me is a very large sum of money (£560) for the canal work. Also, after four weeks the treated tooth is still sensitive to the touch (though no actual toothache as such). Is this a cause for concern? Thanks for your advice

my husband has recently (a week ago) had a crown on a rear back tooth

Thursday, November 6th, 2008
Q.
My husband has recently (a week ago) had a crown on a rear back tooth.he is having a lot of pain from hot/cold food & drinks & cannot eat comfortably on it. He will not let me ring the dentist to go back as he thinks the only option would be to have it removed & start again. Is this what you think is the only option
