Thursday, November 12th, 2009
Q.
I asked my doctor to give me a nice smile or correct spaced teeth in the front of my mouth and he is giving me a crown and root canal on the damaged tooth first, but what about the other teeth in the front they are still spaced will i need a root canal on the other teeth in order to get them unspaced and looking nice?

Need a dental treatment to smile better from what I have now

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Solanki, I have a narrow tooth to the left of my front teeth and to the left of that tooth I have a fang tooth which I really hate the appearance and feeling of, it is positioned a bit higher than my other teeth and when my mouth is closed if you press along my mouth you can clearly feel a difference there, also when smiling it does not look good. I love to smile but past few years I smile alot less with my mouth open, it does affect me and in general most of my teeth need fixing eg; straightened, some reshaped to look even and whitened. I was wondering what could be done to help with my upper left fang tooth so it looks normal and also for all my teeth to be straight, even and white? I would prefer not to have braces. Hope you can make some sense of what I am asking for here and also any general pricing to give me an idea would be great. Many Thanks.

Teeth problems have severely affected my confidence

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
Q.
I’m 17(nearly 18) but I’m still in full time education (colledge). My teeth severly affect my confidence, I never smile in photos, I have 2 chipped front teeth from rough play as a child and still have 4 worn down baby teeth where my adult teeth haven’t grown through and according to an x ray aren’t there. Is it possible to get vineers/crowns on the NHS?

The replaced crown has not changed my cosmetic appearance

Monday, November 9th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Moore My dentist recently fitted a new (procera inceram) crown for me to replace an old crown. It is my big front incisor on the top. He has done a good job with the shape and colour but I can still see a blue line at the margn. My natural smile shows my gum line and the main reason I asked for a new crown was that several friends got crowns that seem to be like real teeth and have subgingival margins. When I asked my dentist for a new crown I made it clear money was not a consideration and that cosmetic appearance was my priority regardless of cost. But on fitting my new crown it is most definitely at least half a mil short of my gums and not much of an improvement over my last crown. Should I sack the dentist I have had since a child on the grounds he is a dinosaur. or should I quietly go behind his back?

Front teeth stick out and look very bad need treatment

Monday, November 9th, 2009
Q.
Dear Mr Bohara, When i was around 15 i was referred to a orthodontist, I cancelled the appointment and didn’t continue with my treatment. Two of front teeth stick out like ”vampire teeth”. I was just wondering how much it would cost me to have braces and how long do you think i would have to keep them on for!

Would six month smile braces take longer time?

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Q.
Thank you for your very useful earlier advice. With regards to the ‘six month smile’ braces – do they really only take six months or can they end up taking longer? How reliable are they long term, i.e. would my teeth move back afterwards? Many Thanks.

Confused over duration taken for smile treatment

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I visited an orthodontist in Cambridge who was very helpful. He said my teeth have an 8mm gap from top to bottom, they are also quite crowded at the top.So i would have to have 2 teeth extracted. The answer to straightening my teeth was take 2 teeth out one each side at the top (premolars)and then have a fixed brace for 18 months. I am quite happy with his answers to my questions. The cost was £2800 which i thought was reasonable. When i got home i looked into it more on the internet and found out about 6 month smiles. Would that be more suitable for me. The orthodonist i saw does’nt fit 6 month smiles.I guess he knows about the procedure and probably thought it wasn’t suitable for me, but would it be worth me making an appointment with yourself or someone nearer to my town to see if that treatment would be better.

My dentist is reluctant to suggest a treatment could you please help?

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have a quick question I hope you might be able to answer. One of my front teeth is slightly twisted and is particularly noticeable when you look at it from the side. It makes me self-conscious when I smile, although my other teeth are still in place and I would be happy to leave them where and how they are. I wore a fixed brace and then a removeable brace as a teenager and have recently had my top 2 wisdom teeth removed due to overcrowding (perhaps this may have caused the front tooth to twist?). I asked my dentist about possible treatments but he seemed reluctant to suggest anything as the tooth is healthy. I wouldn’t want to wear another fixed brace and ideally would want a quick, long term solution, preferably not too expensive. I was wondering what might be the best option? Thanks.

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
Q.
I had root canal on my bottom front tooth which was a grey colour, i since had my teeth bleached and was told to inject the tooth after the bleaching procedure using the trays and bleach provided. This didnt work and the tooth looks terrible compared to my other teeth which are white. What do you suggest? I just want a nice smile.
