Why are my teeth so sensitive?
Tuesday, July 12th, 2011I still have pain after root canal treatment.
Monday, July 11th, 2011had a root canal done wednesday. Had had a lot of pain b4 and a rather large lump which had started weeping pus b4 treatment. Worried that as i still have a small tender lump on the gum this treatment may be unsuccessful and the infection may not go. I am on antibiotics which finish in 4days time. What do you think ? this tooth had been playing me up for sometime but every-time i had an xray nothing ever showed up until the lump appeared. Thanks
I am having pains in my tooth and my throat, what should I do?
Thursday, June 23rd, 2011I had a filling fall out about 6 months ago. There has been no pain. a week ago i bit down on a sandwhich and a piece went insude my tooth causing pain. After a couple days it was feeling better. About three days later late in the evening it started hurting while i was just sitting reading a book. The pain increased to the point i had to go to the ER. I was given Vicadin and Penicilin. Two days later I cannot open my mouth only about 1/2 an inch and it hurts to swallow. the tooth is not really causing me pain. What is going on and how do I make it better?
My tooth is really sensitive after having a crown fitted, what should I do?
Friday, June 17th, 2011Hello Doctor,
My brother lost two teeth in a car accident, could dental implants be the answer?
Friday, June 17th, 2011Hi Doctor Moore,
My brother was involved in a car crash 20 years ago which resulted in him losing his front two teeth and a titanium plate being inserted into the top palette of his mouth. Two front replacement teeth were drilled into the plate by the NHS at that time.
Twenty years later, he is very conscious that his teeth have moved and he now has a large gap between these front two teeth and the teeth on each side of these are crooked, discoloured and overlapping. His bottom teeth could do with some attention also. He does not smoke or have gum disease.
I keep encouraging him to get his teeth sorted but he’s concerned about a few things:
a) How painful or difficult would it be for him to have his teeth reconstructed under these circumstances?
b) The cost – could you give an indication of how much he would need to spend to correct all 4 teeth at the top of his mouth and correct a couple of crooked teeth at the bottom?
c) How long could he expect his teeth to last? He’s worried that, in his words, “once he starts messing”, he’ll have to continually fund replacement of any veneers or false teeth.
Thank you for answering my questions. I think it would transform his life if I could persuade him to take this step.
Kind regards
My gums have become swollen after cosmetic bonding, what can I do?
Monday, June 13th, 2011 Hello Dr Moore
I had cosmetic bonding done 6 days ago to close minor gaps between the front teeth. Soon after that The gum tissue in one spot (Behind the two front teeth on the lingual side) swelled up and became painful. I went back to my dentist, he cleaned the surface where he applied the bonding material, which was painful, and gave me chlorhexidine rinse to rinse three times a day. There is some improvement but the area is still swallen and painful. My dentist said that if it does not get better he will need to do even deeper cleaning with local anesthesia. Things are not making sense to me. Why do I need deep cleaning after cosmetic bonding? What’s your opinion?
Thank you for your time
My tooth still hurts after an accident, is my best option root canal treatment?
Monday, June 6th, 2011 Hello Mark, how long can it take for a damaged tooth ligament to settle. My front tooth does not seem to be recovering since the impact , which is almost four weeks ago. I still can’t bite down on it. Do you think Root Canal Treatment is my better option? X Rays show no sign of damage to the roots.
Could the pulp still be damaged? The tooth mostly hurts when I bite on it but does throb on and off through the day. thank you for your time

Is it less painful to have a wisdom tooth extracted or root canal treatment?
Tuesday, May 31st, 2011Hi doctor,
My wisdom tooth has got infected. It’s on my upper left jaw. I visited a dentist today and she advised me tooth extraction to be performed in a week’s time. She also prescribed me Ammoxicillin (500mg) to be taken 3 times a day for one week. I am not sure if I should go for a root canal treatment or a tooth extraction. My exams are approaching so I want to go for a treatment which takes less time and gets me back on work asap. I would also like to know which one is a less painful procedure. I am 29, female. Please help.
Thanks,
Should I have a crown fitted even though I have some discomfort in that tooth?
Tuesday, May 31st, 2011Dear Dr , I have recently been advised by my dentist that I require a crown fitted on one of my back teeth, the tooth has already had a root filling about 9/10 years ago, I cannot recall ever having problems with the root filling but upon changing my dentist they have noticed that my root filling is actually broken at the bottom of one side (if that makes sense) this tooh was re filled and I have had discomfort in the area since the filling, they have advised that I should still go ahead with the crown, I am however concerned that after having the crown fitted the root breakage could give me trouble which could possibly lead to extra root work and another crown being required… which would be the best way forward in your opinion !!
