My 23 month old daughter has chipped her front tooth, what should I do?

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012
Q.

My 23 month old daughter chipped her front tooth this week, while playing at the park. I took her straight to the dentist but they just said its fine it doesnt need filing down. Its very unsightly and is causing her speach to be different to usual. Is there anything that can be done to make it look somewhat like it used to so that it looks better and improves her speach to what it was? She is also finding it herd to close her mouth without chewing on the inside of her bottom lip with the chipped tooth.

Is it better to have my three year olds original tooth refitted or is a plastic filing the best solution?

Q.

Hi, 2 days ago my 3 year old daughter fell down while playing and one of her front central teeth (upper jaw ) detached totally with its root. we went to a nearest dentist soon.He told us that a children dentist will fix it with her original tooth which we are still keeping or a natural looking tooth filling crown. Is her detached tooth or plastic filing suitable for this purpose and is this procedure really going to prevent orthodontic problems? Thank you

My 3 year old needs 4 front teeth removing due to decay, are there any alternatives to this?

Q.
Hi My daughter is 3 yrs old and unfortunately has tooth decay. She has some hypo plasty teeth. My NHS practice referred her to the Herts Special Care Dental Service who have recommended that she should have the teeth extracted which includes the front 4. I am quite upset about it and would like a second opinion as she has some non decaying teeth which surely should be sealed but I’d never heard of that or been offered it and is there anyway her front 4 teeth can be saved ? Also they have told me to use an adult toothpaste not a childs one which i tryed this morning and she was crying due to the fact its far stronger so hurt he tongue. Which is the best toothpaste for me to use ? Please help. thanks
