Hello Dr Moore. I grind my teeth and I have crown at the front. I also have two false teeth but my crown keeps falling out. I did have a bridge on my three front teeth but I ended up with an abscess and had to have my root removed. I’m of ill health and my grinding is due to stress, it’s a vicious cycle because I’m worried about my health. I was wondering could I get implants on the NHS or if I could just get two for my front teeth and pay up myself? I don’t know how this all works and I’d just like some advice. Thanks.

Tuesday, June 17th, 2014My Teeth Turned Bad And I’m Paranoid About The Way My Fillings Look. Will The NHS Pay Towards Treatment?
Wednesday, May 28th, 2014Hi Dr Moore. I’m 19 and I really want perfect teeth but I have had problems in the past where my teeth have gone bad and I had to have fillings and now I’m paranoid about the way they look and it really upsets me. I would like to know the cost for permanent dentures all around my whole mouth and I don’t want to be able to move them I just really want a perfect set off teeth. Does the NHS pay for this or help towards payment? Thank you. I’d really like some advice.
I Get Sensitive Teeth But My Dentist Won’t Do Anything About It. What Would You Suggest I Do?
Friday, May 9th, 2014Hello Mark. I still have all my baby teeth apart from the front two on the top and bottom. I am now 19. They’re not loose, however they are painful. When I eat or drink certain things my teeth send a bolting ice pain that shoots through them and it really hurts. It makes me feel really down about my smile as with them being so small they make my mouth appear ‘gappy’. My previous dentist doesn’t really pay attention to my teeth maybe this is because I was an NHS customer. However now I work full time and I pay but I still don’t receive a service where he will look into the issues I’m having. What would you suggest I do? Thank you for your time.
I Have A Crooked Front Tooth And I’d Like To Know What The Best Treatment Would Be In Terms Of Cost And Longevity?
Thursday, April 17th, 2014Hi Mark. I am 39 years old and I have crooked front tooth which I believe has become more prominent over the last few years. Sometimes it’s feels a little uncomfortable. I asked my own dentist about options privately though as they are the NHS were very dismissive of my concerns. I have read about a few options however which would be a better option given age, longevity of the treatment and cost?
Your advice and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Most Of My Teeth Fell Out Through Smoking. Is There Any Way I Could Get The 4 In A Day Treatment Through The NHS?
Wednesday, April 9th, 2014 Hello Dr Moore. I used to smoke. I stopped around 7 years ago but most of my teeth have fallen out due to it. I went by my local NHS dentist and he extracted a few teeth, primarily the ones which had decayed. He suggested that I should try dentures, but I am really struggling with dentures and I cannot eat or talk with it. I have had them changed 4 times now. And now my back teeth are now falling out as well. Was looking into the 4 in a day procedure. Can my dentist recommend that on NHS?
If so, how do I go about it? I look forward to your reply. Thanks.
I’ve Had Radiotherapy As Treatment For Cancer And It’s Taken It’s Toll On My Teeth. Could I Get Cosmetic Treatment Through The NHS?
Tuesday, March 18th, 2014Hi Mark. I had radiotherapy treatment for cancer about 15 years ago around my mouth and throat area, I was told at the time that this would eventually cause problems with my teeth, they are now in a sorry state even though I have always cleaned twice a day, they just seem to be wearing away and breaking and are causing me great discomfort and stopping me from eating properly. Someone has mentioned to me that I should be able to get cosmetic surgery on the NHS because this has been caused by the cancer and treatment. Do you know if this is correct and who would I get in touch with about this?
I’m 19 And I Get Bullied For Having Large Gums. Would I Get Gingival Contouring On The NHS?
Tuesday, January 7th, 2014Hi Andrew, I hope you can help me. I’m 19 years of age and for most years of my life I have been bullied for having large gums and a gummy smile. I’ve looked into it and seen about the Gingival contouring, but with my gums been as big as they are I’m wondering how much it would be or whether I’d be able to get it on the NHS? I’d appreciate it if you could help me as it’s something I really need sorting as it’s affecting my confidence. Thanks.
I Had To Have Crowns At An Early Age After An Accident. I Don’t Like Them As They Are Bulky, What Would Be Best To Replace Them?
Wednesday, November 27th, 2013Hello Dr Hughes. When I was 10 years old I had a accident and killed the nerve in my two front teeth, I ended up having them filled down and crowns put on both. 22 years later I have noticed the tops where my gum line is, looks grey and I have always felt the teeth don’t look natural, they are bulky and bigger than my other teeth. Am I able to get these replaced on the NHS? I have asked a dentist to do them once before and he said they did not need replacing. What is your opinion on this? Thank you in advance for any information you can provide me with.
I Have An Infection In My Gum And Need My Tooth Removed. What Would The General Cost Be?
Tuesday, November 26th, 2013Hello Dr Shaffie. I have just lost an upper post crown which I have had for around 15 years or so, the tooth had been loose, and I couldn’t get an appointment with my dentist for a whole week, I have since had an infection in the gum resulting in the need for antibiotics. I have been told by my dentist that the remaining tooth {I think it’s the root} needs to be removed. What would the general cost be to have a tooth fitted on a plate? I am at the minute undecided whether or not to just leave the gap. Thank you, your answer would really help me out as I’m unsure what to do.
My Daughter Has Lost All Her Milk Teeth And She Has An Overbite. Would She Get Free Treatment On The NHS?
Tuesday, November 19th, 2013Hello! I have a daughter who is 13 years old and she has lost all of her milk teeth. She has an overbite, a cross-bite and her two front canines are very crooked. She also wakes up every morning with a very sore jaw. She is happy to have braces as most of her friends have them. I have had many recommendations from family, other mothers and our family dentists. My daughter really has low self esteem and does not like the way her teeth stick out like vampire fangs, so her confidence will really really benefit from braces. She also likes drama and acting so would like to look good for performances. I wanted to know, would my daughter get free treatment on the NHS?
