What can I do to replace a tooth that may need to be extracted?

Friday, November 19th, 2010
Q.
Half of my back molar fell out so I’ve had two fillings which have fell out. Last time I visited my dentist gave me a replacement filling and some antibiotics for an abscess on the same tooth. The abscess still hasn’t gone so I think I’l have to get it taken out now which I’m very worried about, I don’t want to forever have a gap in my mouth and I also read that having a gap from a missing tooth will cause your other teeth to move and may fall out aswell. I’m 16 and really worried about it. Is there anything I can have done to replace the tooth?,

Is there any treatment for discolouration of gums, which I am told is caused by dead nerves?

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010
Q.
Hi, When I was younger I fell and smashed my two front teeth so I now have crowns fitted in place. My gums are slightly blackened where the crown meets the gum line, I have been told this is due to the dead nerves in the gum? Is there any treatment available for this discolouration?,

Can anything be done to address my gapped and protruding teeth?

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010
Q.
I am 55 and have gappy protruding teeth. My two front upper teeth are capped and were made larger then the originals and I have a missing tooth on each upper side after the ‘incisors’ they were extracted to fit a brace when I was thirteen. Until I had one of my front teeth replaced with an implanted cap? that is too protruding and large my confidence has waned. Can anything be done,

My dentist said that a denture is my only option to address a dislodged tooth. Is this true?

Monday, August 16th, 2010
Q.
I have a bridge which is one front tooth a missing tooth then the next tooth forming my bridge. I have had this for some 37yrs. Last yr a had a blow to the mouth that knocked the middle tooth out of my bridge and dislodged the front tooth so it is out of line and slightly loose. My dentist has fitted me with a denture, which I hate and do not get on with at all. My dentist tells me this is my only option. i know it is difficult to have an opinion without seeing the problem, but do you think this could be made to look good and also feel good without breaking the bank. i look forward to your comments.,

Can I get treatment on the NHS for missing tooth?

Friday, August 13th, 2010
Q.
hi. i had my daughter 7 months ago. therefore i still have my maternity exemption. about a year and a half ago. i had to have a tooth took out. at the time was told that you cant see it where it was. and to be honest it will cost a lot to have any work done on it. so it ended up ahving to be left with a big gap. which has really affected my confidence. along with that i had worked very hard to look after my teeth and also had braces at a young age. the gap has made my surrounding teeth nudge. and has changed my teeth. i have been told to get this work done it will cost £1200. i really can not afford to have this work done. and my confidence is just so low at the moment. is there any help i can get from the nhs?,
