My wisdom tooth is causing me terrible pain, does it need to be removed?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

hello doctor moore. i am 28 years old and i used to feel pain occasionally at the back of the gum where the wisdom teeth grows . and the problems is that i’m still feeling the pain even at this age. i have 28 teeth currently. and it has now been confirmed that the wisdom tooth on the lower left jaw is growing horizontally and pushing the immediate molar tooth. and i am feeling terrible pain all the time. what should be the next course of action for me? would it be appropriate to remove the healthy neighboring pushed tooth so that the wisdom tooth will have space to grow through horizontally or does the wisdom tooth itself have to be removed? thank you for your time doctor

Am I doing the right thing by wearing a bite appliance to help breath easily?

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011
Q.

Hi, fi have been seeing a orthodontist in london i have a narrow maxillar this effects my breathin and struggle to breath through my nose. Also this really effect my articulation as my tonge will not go intio the back of the mouth as it should be for speen and keeps coming forward. It is costing me £7000 with the orthodonticst he has fitted a bite appliance to bring my lower jaw forward and also to widen the upper arch. I know this is what needs to be done as the arch is high. I have been reading on the internet an adults upper arch cannot be widened as the bone is now solid and only the teeth will be tipped and can only be done via surgery. I have been going around the uk seeing different dentist and this is really getting me down.

Pls can you help io am spending a fortune on this.

Thank you

How can I correct a cross bite where my lower jaw is stronger than my upper jaw?

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011
Q.

I have a cross bite and my lower jaw is stronge than my top. Its not very prominent but to me my teeth look uneven.I saw one dentist who said i coud have invisalin lite to treat the front area or full set to widen out my smile. i saw a 2nd dentist and they said full set only . Then finally I saw a third who said invisalign is not for me as will nned brace. He said that whilst my teeth will be straight they may not sit comfirtably so must cosider actual bracr instead. I am so confused. The first dentist who advised invisalign lite or full smile is a Platinum dentist and comes recommended. What should I do ?

Do I have a choice concerning where I can have my implant fitted after I have my tooth removed by my regular dentist?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
I have a molar in my lower right jaw with an infection in/below the root canal. The tooth is crowned and has been infected and recrowned previously. My dentist and I are agreed that the tooth must go! Antibiotic treatment is making me feel unwell and not solving the pain problem completely – I am now in my second week of high-dose antibiotics, having been changed from penicillin to Clindamycin today – and I would like to lost the tooth asap. I hope to have an implant to replace this tooth/crown and have been told that I would be suitable for one. My own dentist (A) does not perform implants, but has told me that the dentist at my practice who does (B) would like to extract my problem tooth himself to see how it “sits”, etc. I have two problems with this: i) dentist B does not want to take the tooth out at the moment and ii) I am not sure that I feel confident about dentist B conducting the implant procedure. Can I decide where to have my implant performed after my own dentist, dentist A, has extracted the offending tooth?,
