I Drink A Lot Of Tea And My Teeth Are Becoming Loose. Will I Need A Denture Or Is There Something Else I Can Do?

Wednesday, December 11th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Shaffie. What are my options if my two front teeth are becoming loose? They feel loose and they are not stable. What are my options if my two front teeth are rotting out? I do not know if they are rotting out or not but I am worried they are. I drink a lot of tea. But I brush my teeth three times a day. But my mother had to have dentures in her early thirties and I was worried about my teeth

I do not want to leave the gaps in my mouth especially my two front teeth. Is there a way to put two fake teeth in and attach them to my gums? Thank you I hope you can answer my queries.

I Am Absolutely Petrified Of The Dentist! What Can I Do As I Need Treatment?

Friday, September 6th, 2013
Q.

Hi, my problem is that I am absolutely petrified of the dentist. I tend to go twice a year and let the dentist look and the last time I went I started to have a clean but nearly I passed out I was that scared. Now I have a loose back tooth which is really very painful. My face is swollen and I can’t eat on that side so you can imagine this is a hindrance. I am on immunosuppression and on warfarin and I know both of these can possibly affect my gums. I have got to the stage where I will have anything done and I want to know if I can be put to sleep during the procedures I need, is that possible? Thank you for your time.

I Have Two Extra Canine Teeth, How Do I Go About Getting These Removed?

Friday, June 14th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have still got baby teeth which didn’t come out as a child and as a result I have two extra canine teeth. I am aware the baby teeth are not going to last long-term but unsure of what procedure I would need to either bring the adult canines into position/ remove and replace with ? An alternative. Would brace treatment have to be involved in order to move the canines into position? I feel this would be the best solution as it is less invasive than tooth removal. Also I believe it would cost a substantial amount but have no idea what the approximate cost would be. I really don’t know how to go about receiving treatment for this. Can you please shed some light? Any help greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

Can A Dentist Save My Wobbly Teeth?

Monday, May 20th, 2013
Q.

Hello. I am a sixteen year old and feel absolutely mortified about the state of my teeth. I have never always been a good brusher, and unfortunately am only just realising just how important it is to maintain dental hygiene for making sure I keep healthy teeth. As of a few weeks ago, some of my teeth have become loose, and they are nearly all the front ones, on both the top and bottom. Please could you give me some advice on what a dentist would be able to do to replace the teeth, and give an estimate as to how much it would cost for a course of treatment under the NHS? Thank you.

Do My Loose Teeth Really Need To Be Extracted?

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I was wondering whether you could help me – my mam has been told by her dentist that she has to have three of her front lower teeth removed as they are loose. My question is whether it is always the case that loose teeth have to be removed? I mean, these are her front teeth so this is quite significant news. I used to visit the same dentist and he told me that my two back lower teeth would have to be removed as they were too badly damaged to save following the removal of impacted wisdom teeth, however, when I visited another dentist for a second opinion I was told they could be saved with root canal treatment so you can understand my worry. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I had 20 Crown Replacements And Now My Feel Teeth Are Loose, What Should I Do?

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013
Q.

I had cosmetic crown replacements on 20 teeth. I had a great deal of trouble getting them right. As in, I had to have many adjustments carried out by my dentist. My bottom front teeth kept hitting each other resulting in constant movement. Fortunately, that has been resolved for the most part, but now my bottom canine is loose. This has just occurred over the last week. Do you think this is because of the constant movements? The bottom teeth have been in place since June. What can be done for this? Should I go to a specialist rather than my actual dentist who carried out the crown replacements? Thank you for any help you can  provide.

I Am Scared My Teeth May Fall Out Due To My Receding Gums, What Can I Do?

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013
Q.

Hi
I am 52 years old and have never smoked or drunk but I have got badly receding gums which according to my dentist is apparently due to the wrong type of brushing. My teeth are very sensitive and they feel loose. I am getting scared that they are going to fall out. I have regular check ups at my dentist but he just says that it is my own fault for brushing too vigorously and there is nothing that I can do. I was wondering if this is correct or if there are any procedures to stop the gums from getting any worse. If so could you possibly give me a rough idea of costs and where I could get any treatment. Many thanks.

Can I have dental implants if I have type 1 diabetes?

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012
Q.

Hi Andrew, I have just returned from my dentist who has advised me that I have a number of loose teeth and that this is due to receding bone in my jaw. It is likely that I will lose these teeth including one which has a bridge attached. I am a 59 year old and have had type 1 diabetes for 30 yrs. My blood glucose control has not been great in the last few years but I’m working on it. Given these factors, am I likely to be suitable for implants? and what do these cost (per tooth). I have done a little research but not sure if I will be suitable and I am worried as I want the teeth replacing as soon and quickly as possible. Thanks for your time.
