Can crowns and veneers be placed side by side

Monday, September 15th, 2008
Q.
Can crowns and veneers be placed side by side and look the same in the mouth? Hi Justin, About 7 years ago my dentist put white filling on my two left incisors to cover a gap as both teeth are slightly crooked. I now want to correct this as my gum is receeding above the white filling. I have been recomended crowns but for all incisors and both canine teeth, this is very invasive so I would want to have 2 crowns for the crooked teeth and then veneers on the other 4. Can these be made to look the same in all lights? Do you think my teeth would benefit from invisalign instead as my teeth are quite healthy-I have had all wisdom teeth removed. I also have little white marks on some of my teeth, would these be fixed by whitening? Thank you.

implant dentist in cambridge

Q.
Dear Dr. Tennet, I am currently having my teeth straightened using Invisalign and will be doing so for the next 8 months. My teeth have become crooked over the years (I am in my late 20’s) as a result of a baby tooth that has been stubborn and remained in my mouth. As such, I am straightening the teeth and then want to remove the cause of the crookedness (i.e. the baby tooth). I’m therefore thinking of removing the guilty tooth and inserting an implant into the jaw. The tooth in question is my upper Canine (I think it corresponds to number 6 on the dental charts). I have read quite a bit of literature but am hoping you can answer some of my questions if possible. 1.) I’ve been told that I will need to wear the final aligner in the Invisalign set for a good 3-6 months to ensure the teeth have time to settle in their final position. Assuming the baby tooth survives the forces from the Invisalign treatment, can I use these 3-6 months to remove the baby tooth and immediately fit the implant into the created hole (I read the treatment would need 3-6 months for the titanium implant to bond with my bone)? If this is so, can I then have the canine position on the inside of the aligner coated white, to look like a ‘fake’ tooth? My reason for this query is that the canine position will be very visible and I was hoping I could use the aligner to help mask the gap in my teeth! 2.) Having looked at implants, I would like an experts opinion on the use of modern all-ceramic crowns for implants. I like the look of the CEREC based crowns using Mark II blocks. However, I don’t know how much of my interest is just down to Vita’s good marketing and whether there are better alternatives on the market! If there is, I would very much appreciate your advice on the subject! What are your opinions of PFMs? 3.) Do you happen to know how much the process would cost with an all-ceramic crown in the UK? 4.) Could you recommend a decent dentist in the Cambridgeshire area that do ceramic crowns + implants? 5.) How common is it for UK-based dentists to stain the CEREC restorations and is this part of the normal procedure or does it cost extra? Thanks so much for the advice!

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki, My top teeth protrude outwards, and I have a protruding bite also with my top teeth. I would like to wear clear invisible braces. Is this possible at the age of 55? How much would it cost please? Thank you.

will invisalign centre my front teeth

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Q.
Hi I did not have braces as a child, but had one upper 4 removed to ease overcrowding. This has resulted in my teeth shifting round to the right to fill the gap so the front two are no longer centred. Would I need another tooth out on the other side in order to move my teeth back, or would a brace be enough? Would invisalign work?

what can i use other than full braces

Monday, September 8th, 2008
Q.
Dear Sir I have one front tooth which is at a measurement of 8 and one which is at 3, it is slightly wonky as well as obviously being very prominent. I have been told that invisalign will not work for me and instead I would need full braces to sort the tooth. I am hesitant to do this at my ageand wear braces for two years and I have been reading about the Inman Aligner. If I have been told that invisalign will not work does this mean that Inman will not either? Or is there the possibility that it could? I was unsure as to if it will only work in mild to moderate cases such as invisalign but I am stuck for any other options other than full braces. If you can suggest anything else I would really appreciate it.
