Which Braces are the Best and Most Affordable to Treat a Relapsed Tooth?

Friday, February 6th, 2015
Q.

Since I was around nine or ten, until I was around 15, I had different types of braces to move my teeth and had extractions too. After having fixed braces and using the retainer for around a year the retainer broke and I couldn’t get an appointment for a while so one of my teeth, on the top right hand side between my front tooth and canine, has moved back from the rest, which are still straight. I would like to have braces just on the top to correct this. Which ones would be best and the most affordable, as I am 18 and a uni student? Thank you.

My Front Two Teeth Come Out Slightly From The Rest Of My Teeth. Are There Any Braces Which Fix With The Front Teeth Only?

Friday, August 1st, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I am enquiring about my two front teeth. The issue is that they come slightly forward to the rest of my teeth which gives me a self-conscious smile. I am 20 years old and the older I get the worse I feel about this situation. Is there any sort of brace just for the front teeth rather than the whole mouth? And if so what are you charges? Do you have several clinics or just the 1? I would also love to know more about teeth whitening.

Regards.

I Had Braces As A Teenager, But Now My Teeth Are Misaligned Again. How Much Will I Be Looking At To Fix Them?

Monday, October 21st, 2013
Q.

Hi there Dr Hughes,
I had braces as a teenager but now aged Twenty-One, my two front teeth are misaligned again. My retainer no longer fits properly so that’s no use. Is there anything that can be done to straighten just the front two? How much would I be looking to pay roughly? They are not dramatically crooked but it bugs me. One of them is just slightly behind the other, so maybe only one of them has moved. The change would not be too dramatic but I would feel better. The rest of my teeth are reasonably straight.
Thanks, I hope you can help as I’m not sure how to go about it.

Should I get Damon or Invisalign Lite braces?

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012
Q.

I damaged my front teeth in a cycling accident in Dec 2011. UR1 was fractured, breaking off about 2/3 of the crown, This has a temporary composite build up with a plan to crown it. UR1 was left retroclined and my endodontist recommended having it straightened. UL1 needed RCT by endodontist as I had a nasty abcess about a week after the accident.

I’d like advice on othodontic devices. My GP dentist referred me to a hospital orthodontist who suggested either add a veneer to the retroclined tooth, a 6 tooth train track for 4 months or a short course of Invisalign (or similar). He also commented that I had mild crowding on the lower incisors. I have always had a big gap between my upper central incisors and he suggested that this could be addressed at the same time as delaing with the retroclined tooth.

I was then referred to a local private orthodontist who recommended Invisalign Lite as being the safest option for the most gentle movement and I was due to start treatment this month. However, her practice went into liquidation about a week after seeing her so had to start all over again with a new practice.

The second practice, where two orthodontists wanted to see me to consider the best options have a different view. One suggestion was to leave the upper teeth for 5 years to monitor vitality. The say Invisalign provides uncontrollable forces that might be too strong and would not prescribe this. The only brace they are prepared to use is a 6 tooth Damon for about 6 months, and at the same time recommend a 6 tooth lingual brace at the bottom as I have 90% overbite as well as crowding.

I’m struggling to find research papers on the forces provided by various systems, or safety post-trauma, but I’d welcome a view on the Invisalign Lite v Damon upper and lingual lower options. The latter is much more expensive even though only the front six teeth are being moved.

Thanks!!

Hi, I’m 16 and I was offered metal braces under the NHS, but I turned them down as I wasn’t keen on the idea. I’ve been looking at the ‘invisible’ braces by invisalign and I’m really interested, but I was wondering approximately how much it would cost? My teeth arn’t severely crooked at all and I only just passed under the NHS requirements, there is just some crowding-it’s mainly for cosmetic reasons that I’m interested, I’d be so grateful if you could get back to me, thank you!
