My Orthodontist Wants To Remove My Braces But I Think It’s Too Early. What Should I Do?

Friday, February 28th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes,
I am currently fitted with braces to straighten my teeth before I have an implant to replace a missing upper front incisor.
I have been fitted with the braces for 3 years as my teeth had moved forward into the space of the missing tooth, although I was fitted with a Maryland bridge.
My orthodontist wants to remove my braces but I do not feel the top teeth are straight yet. The top incisors all look splayed forward and at an angle. Almost as if they have been pulled into position by the bands I wear, but then not turned straight again. Also my remaining front incisor overlaps the centre line. Does this seem right to you?

Is It Possible To Have Dental Implants After Valve Surgery?

Monday, February 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark

I would like to  know if after undergoing surgery for an Aiortic valve replacement in 2007,  Would it be possible to have tooth implants fitted? ( it would perhaps be six implants altogether in all )
I am currently taking warfarin to keep my blood thin due to a mechanical valve being fitted.

Please let me know if these implants would be possible, and if not what would you say is the best solution to my problems?

Kind regards in advance for any advice you may have on this matter.

I Have A Denture And I’m Thinking About Getting Veneers. Or Is There Another Procedure That I Could Have To Get The Smile I Always Wanted?

Friday, January 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello,
I have a denture in my top row of teeth at the front and was thinking about veneers. Is it possible to have veneers even though there is no tooth there? How much roughly would it cost for me to have veneers? Or is there another procedure that I could have to get the smile I always wanted? What is the length of the procedure? I have already inquired about an implant but I had a scan and it revealed that their is not enough bone for me to have the implant.

Thanks.

Would It Be Possible To Have A Bridge Fitted To My Crowns Or Would I Need New Crowns At Either Side?

Monday, December 16th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. My question is that I got my top four front teeth crowned a few years ago but now my tooth has come out. Would it be possible to have a bridge fitted to my existing crowns or would I have to get new crowns at either side? At the moment I have a single tooth plate but it’s rather problematic as I have to take it out to eat, which isn’t ideal. Do you know of any other treatment I could consider. Any help or advice on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

My Father Needs Bridges And Gold Teeth Fitted. How Much Will This Cost?

Wednesday, November 6th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel I’d like to enquire about implants and bridges for my father. Mainly with regard to his two front teeth as they need to be gold. Not sure if he can afford the prices, what are your best prices? He still has his front teeth but the two that are besides it are missing and now he’s really quite scared he will lose either of his front teeth which is causing some distress. Could you please help the situation, this would be great. I’m sure he’d like to hear from any other treatments options you can suggest also. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

The Treatment My Dentist Has Recommended Is To Put A Bridge In. Is This Right In Your Opinion?

Wednesday, November 6th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Shaffie. I had a severe pain in my left jaw. The dentist I visited said I have infection on tooth #19. He gave me antibiotics to take for a week. The pain is getting better but not completely gone. The treatment plan he proposed is to extract the teeth and put the bridge in. Would you say this is a good option? If so, does the bridge treatment have to take place immediately or can I wait for a month? What other options do I have available to me? I do not have any insurance to cover and I want to know if this process of bridging can be delayed? Thank you, I’ll await your advice on this matter.

Hi Mark, I Would Like To Straighten My Teeth Without Visible Braces. Any Advice Would Be Appreciated?

Friday, November 1st, 2013
Q.

Hi Mark,
I am missing my UR2 tooth (since birth) and have a bridge connected to the UR3. It was also connected to the UR1 but that wing was removed by a dentist in May. Since then my UR1 has moved forwards and to the left and my UL1 has moved inwards and to the left as a result.
I would like to know about an implant/bridge for the UR2 and some way to straighten my teeth especially the front two now they have moved. But I don’t want visible braces, but Invisalign or similar is okay though.
Thank you, any advice would be appreciated.

I Have Been Told I Need A Frenectomy. Could You Tell Me If This Procedure Is Necessary In My Case?

Thursday, October 24th, 2013
Q.

Is a libial frenectomy necessary before placing an implant in the front upper jaw? Or is the frenectomy necessary just for the sake of fitting a partial denture, as in my case? As my local dentist performed frenectomy, saying that it was very much essential before placing an implant. I have lost a single tooth at the front upper region. Kindly provide me some information about the frenectomy procedure and whether it’s essential before placing an implant?

I Have Crowns Coming Loose And One Is Being Held In Place With A Peg. What Can Be Done To Fix It?

Thursday, October 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have crowns on either side of my front teeth and the left one is loose and being held in by tooth peg which I think has maybe caused an infection as my gums are sensitive and bleed now and my right has ‘snapped’ off half way so I still have the top part remaining in my gum. Can I have these two teeth removed and put onto a pallet? My loose right crown has come out once before and was immediately loose after being put back in by a dentist hence the tooth peg. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer in advance.

I Had A Crown Fitted A While Back And I Am Now Being Told They It Will Cause Infection And That I’ll Need Dentures. Surely Something Else Can Be Done?

Thursday, October 17th, 2013
Q.

I had a new porcelain crown fitted to my front tooth 2 years ago, a couple of days ago part of it chipped off, been to dentist and have been told I have a severe infection in the root that the steel post attached to my crown and the whole thing needs to be extracted! I’m devastated because I am terrified of dentists, is this the only solution? They have said I will need a false denture. Surely there is another method? Whilst I am not vain I hate the thought of a denture with 1 front tooth just yet, I have no pain what so ever, no problems with it before apart from this tiny piece that as broken off which makes 1 of my front teeth a little rough and rubbing on my bottom lip, but they told me if I don’t have it done now I will end up with a bad abscess which will result in the same thing happening but obviously I will suffer more pain.
