I Grind My Teeth And My Crown Keeps Falling Out. Could I Get Dental Implants On The NHS?

Tuesday, June 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I grind my teeth and I have crown at the front. I also have two false teeth but my crown keeps falling out. I did have a bridge on my three front teeth but I ended up with an abscess and had to have my root removed. I’m of ill health and my grinding is due to stress, it’s a vicious cycle because I’m worried about my health. I was wondering could I get implants on the NHS or if I could just get two for my front teeth and pay up myself? I don’t know how this all works and I’d just like some advice. Thanks.

Now My Gum Has Fully Healed, Would It Be Possible To Have Three Implants? What Would This Cost?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have had a number of teeth extracted over a 5 year period, the last being a year or so ago. The gum has now fully healed leaving no hole. My question is: Can I now get an implant? A replacement tooth to fill the gap left behind from a missing tooth even years after the tooth was extracted? If so, what is the procedure and rough idea of costs for 3 replacement teeth? Does it involve making a hole in the gum to place the implant in? Thank you.

Am I Too Old For Implants?

Monday, March 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello there, I wondered if you could help me with my problem. I am a sixty-one year old woman, and have had two large gaps on either side of my lower jaw since I was a child. I have experimented with dentures in the past, but I found them to be an inconvenience to me. Would you say I was too old for dental implants, and are my gums too thin to have implants fitted? A big problem I have is that I find that I struggle when it comes to chewing food, and have always wanted to have my teeth sorted out professionally. I do not have many teeth, and I would really like to have a full set of working ones! Thank you.

I’ve Read That In America They Have Dentistry Schools That Do Free Implants, Is It The Same In The UK?

Friday, September 27th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Andrew, I’m only 32 years old and I have had no teeth (full mouth) for nearly 9 years now and it’s affecting my children, as they are currently being teased at school. I have had numerous sets of dentures but my mouth/gums keep on getting infected. Do you know of any dentistry schools that do the free implants as I’ve been looking at the prices and with me being a single mother on benefits I can’t really afford the prices and it’s really affecting my confidence as I’m looking a lot older than my age and I’ve read that in America they do have dentistry schools that do offer free implants, Is it the same in the UK?

My Confidence Is Affected Since Turning Fifty. Can I Fix The Gap In My Teeth Through The NHS?

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have really a large gap between my front tooth and the one right of it, also a gap on the left hand side as well as the middle and I really hate it. I am coming up to 53 years young, and need to find out if it’s too late to do anything about, as I have lost a lot of confidence recently, since hitting my fifties and now I hate having my photo taken when I have to smile. It’s really embarrassing for me.   Also, if there is something that can be done, would it cost a lot of money or would it be something I could get through the national health? I look forward to your reply. Kind regards and Thank you for your time.

Would I be able to get dental implants on the NHS?

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012
Q.

Hi I have 7 up back tooth missing and 6 down back missing. I had gum disease and so tried denture but they didn’t work for me and I got sick every time I put them on. What can I do to get dental implants? How much does it cost? I lost all my confident and dont smile anymore because my front teeth are of different sizes and they have gaps and i noticed the gap is getting wider. My kids nicknamed me goofy. I have been trying to save some money to fix this problem but i think its very expensive.Would I qualify for NHS treatment? I am 38 years old?

Would it be possible to have dentures on mini implants?

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012
Q.

I may need a denture, I have a broken bridge. I would like, if affordable, to have dentures on mini implants. Is this feasable? Why do some dentists not recommend it. I do not like the idea of having to take teeth out overnight. I just wonder why most dentists don’t do mini implants and it will take up to 8 months to complete the procedure for a denture on normal implants. My bridge is on 1 Implant and a tooth a tooth half way between was removed and the bridge replaced temporarily in 2006. My dentist then retired and I have been left with this broken bridge since then. I have missting teeth either side and have been recommended dentures on implants but I have been told they would need to be removed at night. The dentist said that mini implants are not recommended.
