I had my double tooth took out as it split in half. It had a root canal filling in it. the dentist removed that as well. This was 3 weeks ago. I am in terrible pain, so went back to the dentist. They said I had an infection. and put me on antibiotics for 5 days. I am still in agony all around that gum area. I can only eat on one side. I still get a lot of pain round that area. All round there is very sensitive. What should I do?
Hi. I am a women of 45 and I suffer from bad health. For the last five years I’ve suffered with my teeth and my gums are sore every day. I have spent a fortune at my own National Health Service dentist. My gums are really receded and I have had a few teeth out. I keep asking my own dentist to take more out because the pain is that bad. I’ve payed for dentures but I can’t wear them because my gums are too sore. I’ve been looking into implants. I wonder if you can give me information or tell me the way forward? Thanks.
Hi. Earlier this week I had a bad tooth ache so I went to the dental practice and I was told I have to have a tooth removed. I explained to the woman that the pain was constant and I couldn’t lay on the side of my face so she gave me amoxicillin to take for a week. As time has gone on the pain has got worse, and there’s swelling as the tooth is hurting my jaw and is starting to ache. I also have a sharp shooting pain down my whole gum the left side. So the question I wanted to ask was why? My jaw started to hurt and why is the pain spreading down my whole gum?
Hello. I am from Nepal and am sending in a question on behalf of my mother. My mother has developed a hole in the end of her gums recently.
It is swollen and she is suffering from a fever.
She is forty years old. Is this problem serious or is it a minor problem? Should we take her to a dental specialist or to a mouth specialist or even a hospital?
We are confused, so please help us. It’s causing her a lot of pain and she is not able to open her mouth.

Hello Dr Moore. I recently had a gingivectomy on my upper left side of mouth for the very last tooth. I had a cracked tooth and my gum had gone sunk into the cavity of tooth. I believe it was from an old filling. How long does the tingling pain last after that? It was last week. Will I go back to get any real feeling in the next 3 weeks? It’s like a very annoying pain but not tearful pain. I have a high pain tolerance. My dentist told me there would be a pain like this, as if I had a paper cut on your finger but they didn’t say how long that would last. Thanks.
Hi. I recently had two front teeth filled with white filling and I’m not satisfied with the results. It feels bulky in my mouth, and I can feel pressure dragging down on my teeth constantly. There is also pain in my gum, right above the middle between the two teeth.
Can I safely remove them and have my original shape back? If the dentist has only “smoothed” the surface of the chipped tooth, does this mean my original tooth is shorter in length or not? I am very stressed about this, it has hugely impacted my mood and I wish I didn’t do it. If they fall out, do I have to replace them or not and do they stain over time?

I had the first root canal treatment done over 10 years ago now. A few more canal treatments on the same tooth and the adjacent tooth followed as the first treatment has not resolved the pain I was suffering with. I have seen many dentists and some endodontics since then. All of them said the root canal work had been done exceptionally well and they can’t see anything which may cause pain. However I still suffer with an irritating, dull, sometimes pulsating spontaneous toothache and tender gum around them which comes and goes. I was in agony for 2 weeks after my recent visit to a hygienist. It drives me mad. Can you help or refer me to someone who can? Thank you.
I went to the dentist with pain in my lower left gum area. I assumed the pain was caused by my wisdom tooth coming through. I have not had my bottom wisdom teeth removed as I have never had any issues with them. My dentist discovered the pain wasn’t caused by my wisdom tooth but by bone protruding through my gums. My dentist recommended I have the Alveoplasty procedure done. I have bone protruding my gums in two separate areas. In one of the areas I have had a tooth extraction, however in the second area I still have my teeth. I have no cavities so I would like to know if prior to having the Alveoplasty procedure being done, is tooth extraction a must or can it be done without the removal of my teeth?
Hello. I need to tell you that I’m 19 years old and on job seekers and I was wondering whether I can still get braces for free as they are starting to hurt on the gums for no apparent reason? Do you know why this is? When I would go to the dentist they said they can’t find the problem, and also on my left side, I have one of my teeth going inwards, but in the past my dentist was only offering the braces treatment, which were the ones you can remove which were no help, so is there any chance of getting free braces as I am now getting older and need to know the cut off? I am very depressed with my front upper teeth. I am 37 year old, and have over the year realised that my front upper teeth have started to widen apart, and the right front upper is started to move outer leave so much gap (similar to Picture 1 from your album below). the same gap have started on the lower front. My question is how to bring them together, and how much its likely to cost me for both upper and lower. I have been to my local dentist and when asked about this all they seem to say is its all age related, my gums have started to shift up which allows the teeth to move. I do get a lot of pain in the mornings as i come to realise that my tongue has probably pushed onto them, and also if i try to bite an apple i get pain straight away, please can you advise.
