I am only 24 and suffering from advanced gum disease. this has led to my two front teeth drifting and it has left me with a gap. i also have a gap in between my left front teeth and its adjoining tooth. i am currently under specialist care at newcastle dental hospital and i am having some deep cleaning work carried out very soon, but when this is over, will there be any cosmetic work i can have as i am very self conscious when i smile, i would love to have straight beautiful teeth again

I have gum disease through thumb sucking can I gave cosmetic dentistry

Monday, July 14th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I’m 23 years old. I sucked my thumb until I was 13. My top teeth were pushed out and my bottom ones were pushed in. My bottom right 1 tooth has even turned 90 degrees so it\’s perpendicular to the others! Because of this, the dentist told me I have pockets in my gums they harbour more bacteria than normal people. 3 years ago, I started suffering from gum disease. I\ve since had 4 gum infections, 2 abscesses, 3 teeth extracted and I now have another broken tooth. My gums are wearing away too. Most of my problems are due to the fact I didn’t see a dentist from the ages of 16 and 20. I\ve started going regularly again but I’m distressed at all the work that needs doing. Is there anything that can be done for me with cosmetic dentistry? I think I need braces to start with to straighten my teeth, but then I worry that they’re beyond repair because I have missing teeth. Please help me as it has had massive effects on my confidence and self esteem as I can\’t smile or even talk properly as I’m so scared of anyone seeing my teeth.

My front tooth is loose due to gum disease should I have a Maryland bridge or denture

Thursday, July 10th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a front loose tooth due which I am about to lose due to Gum disease. I have been offered the option of replacing the tooth with a denture (dont want this) or a Maryland bridge. Only problem with the bridge is that I have read that the metal can show through the teeth & that a gap may be visible due to gum shrinkage. In the long term I would like an implant to replace this loose tooth but have been told that the gum diseases in that area has to clear before an implant is possible. Would you advise me to go with a temporary denture or the maryland bridge, how long would you recommend i wait before going for an implant?. Thanks

Thursday, July 10th, 2008
Q.
I have just lost all my lower teeth due to gum disease. One dentist says i should have implants and then wait 4-5 months before having a bridge fitted another says he can do the whole procedure in one go. How do I decide?

Q.
Hi, I have gum disease which is currently been treated, however one of my front teeth have to be extracted due to becoming loose , I have been advised to choose either a Maryland bridge or a denture as a temporary measure as I would like to go for an Implant. Please can you advise how long I would have to wait before I could o for an implant? also i read on the net about Strauman SLActive implants which reduce the overall healing time from 6mths to 1mth? is this true or just a gimmick. I would be grateful for your advice. Thank you

how do I find a dentist abroad for dental implants and gum disease treatment

Sunday, July 6th, 2008
Q.
I am 59 years old and looking quite good apart from my teeth, which are now quite loose and have gaps between them due to gum disease. My gums are a lot better since I stopped smoking 4 years ago, but the damage has been done. My dentist says I will need dentures but I wondered if I would be a candidate for implants. However as the price in the UK is so high I was thinking about going abroad. How would I set this process in motion?

Hi. I have gum disease after many years of smoking. One or two of my teeth are slightly loose. I have recently given up smoking. Will my gum problem improve and would I still be able to have veneers?

I would like teeth whitening but I am a smoker

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr Komal I would like to do a teeth whitening treatment. I would be grateful if you could answer the following two questions:1) I am a smoker, after whitening will I be prone to grey stains which will look worst than if I did not do the treatment?

2) I have a gum disease, is it possible to do whitening without having a problem? Thank you in advance for your advice.
