I’m terrified that I’ll loose all my teeth and I don’t want invasive surgery. What are my alternatives?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
I thought I had pretty good teeth, I am 53 and they are white and very good shaped. the Dentist said yesterday I have gum disease (deep kind at the bone) at back of both lower and upper. talking about gum surgery and other one hour sessions in the chair and lots of money I dont have. importantly I dont feel I can go through with the invasive side of this deep cleaning of root etc. Whats my alternative – would it cure me if I have them out – I just cant do this and I am terrified. I am manic about teeth and cant believe this has happened in 21/2yrs since all fine. whats the easiest way through it, general anaesthetic at dental hospital or have them out or what. Help!! Im sick with worry, how long have I got , will all my teeth fall out and how soon??????,

I suffer with Bruxism and it has caused my gums to receed which is making my teeth very sensitive. My dentist has made me a mouth shield which has not helped because it causes jaw strain and my gums are still very red and sore when I wear it. I am extremely anxious that I am going to lose my teeth if the problem is not solved, can you offer me any advice.,

I have been advised to have all of my teeth removed and replaced with dentures, are there any other options?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
Q.
I have recently been to my Dentist and had to have yet another tooth taken out due to Gum Disease. My Dentist as adviced me to have all my teeth taken out and Dentures fitted. I really dont like the idea of wearing Dentures as I do Karate and cant stand my mouth guard in my mouth as it makes me wrench. What are my options? I have thought of implants but they seem to be many different types. which would be the best for me? Can I have implants if I have Gum Disease? Thank you.,

Are my teeth deteriorating because of my diet?

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010
Q.
I feel so unlucky with my teeth, I have had several fillings when younger, so I always try to look after and clean my teeth well. Even using an electris toothbrush. I have just broken a peice off a preiviously filled molar tooth, I thought that there would be an alternative but my dentist has removed it saying it was too soft. But my real worry is that I have receding gums in the front, My dentist does clean them or flush them! and gives me cleaning instructions but I really don’t think this is the problem as they have never bled when cleaned and do not look like the pictures of gum disease, Please Help what can I do, the possibility of loosing them is my worst nightmare, could my diet be to blame or the fact I am on the depo injection,

I am experiencing an ache in my lower front teeth, any idea why?

Monday, July 5th, 2010
Q.
I am experiencing an ache in my lower front teeth – very difficult to pinpoint the exact pain. It is not painful to place pressure on the teeth. It is an ache that comes and goes. I am not sensitive to hot or cold items. Any thoughts?,

Will the fact I’ve had gum disease and some recession prevent me from straightening my teeth?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I’m 27 years old and have very healthy and white teeth with no fillings. I had braces when I was younger (15) but as I stopped wearing my retainer my teeth have since moved a bit and are not as straight as I would like. I was thinking about going for the invisalign treatment to re-straighten the teeth which have moved. However there is a problem – when I went to the dentist recently he said over the last 3 years I have suffered from some gum disease which has led to a small amount of bone loss on my two very back teeth (diagnosed from routine x-rays in a check up). I have also noticed a small amount of recession on two of my front teeth. Anyway, I’ve rectified the problems with my gums now (through hygienist visits and an electric toothbrush) and they are healthy and pink now. Will the fact I’ve had gum disease and some recession prevent me from straightening my teeth?,
