Hello Marcus. My dentist attached my partial denture to a crown. When I pulled off the partial, the crown came with it! Is it customary or even prescribed to use a crown as an ‘anchor’ for a partial? If I had realized the anchor was a crown when preparing for the partial, I would have objected! My dentist maintains that the partial was a “temporary fix,” but would not respond to my question about using the crown as an anchor. He also said he would charge me to “glue the crown” back on so I can continue wearing the partial. There is so much decay now where the crown was, I doubt that the glue would hold; further, I still don’t think it’s a good solution. Is this ever a good idea? Do you have any suggestions for me? I can’t eat regular food now. Help!

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014Hi Marcus. I brush my teeth twice a day as usual yet over last few years my teeth seem to chip and are becoming thinner. My own dentist said it’s down to personal care. What can I do? Also two of my teeth have been removed due to breaking and I feel like at any time another could break as they look so thin. During my last check up they mentioned I have glue on my teeth from when I had braces at 12/13 years old and that there has been damage around the glue. I feel like I’m getting no answers and that I’ll lose all my teeth if nothing is done.

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013Hello, I had braces and took them off myself and on my front tooth some of the glue did not come off so it scraped it off and it has took a small part out in the middle of my tooth. The small dip after every meal or drink goes yellow, so how can I get around this problem? (I brush twice daily, once in the morning and once at night before bed) any help would be fantastic I’ve started brushing even more recently to try get rid of the problem but nothing seems to work and obviously is knocking on my confidence a bit. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013Hello Dr, Shaffle, My wife has had fitted zirconia veneer five point bridge fitted on her bottom teeth. There seems to be excessive glue which is yellow brown in colour at the rear which is now beginning to come away. These where fitted approximately six months ago along with zirconia veneers fitted at the top (no bridge at the top) and there are no problems at the top. Is this normal for excessive glue on a bridge to come away and for this to happen? And why this is happening to her? My wife and myself are getting quite concerned. thank you in advance

Thursday, May 12th, 2011Hello Dr Mark Hughes. I hope you can help me. Can you tell me how is the composite glued on bonded retainers supposed to feel? I had to have mine topped up again after 10 years of wearing but the stuff another orthodontist has used tastes like plastic and is making me feel quite sick. I have never had a problem with it previously but the stuff he has used feels very different to the cement used previously. It has been this way for around three months and has not got better. In my case can it be trimmed down and another material be put over the top of it? Its really getting me down. Thank you for your time and all the best.
I have a crown that falls out every couple of months, what is the problem?
Tuesday, March 1st, 2011 I have a crown with a post (upper) that keeps falling out every couple of months. To begin with I had no problems with it. I would like to know if there are a variety of posts? Is there a post that would anchor the crown securly? At present it seems that it is a kind of “glue” that is being used to fix the crown.

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011After 6 years I dislodged one of my front caps chewing–I want to have it reglued however my dentist has retired and no longer lives here at the end of the world–other dentist say come in we’ll x-ray, etc. I just want my tooth reglued.
