I don’t have some of my adult teeth, are dental implants the best replacement option for my situation?

Friday, October 7th, 2011
Q.

i have a large gap between my two front top teeth, not from a missing tooth just naturally. i would like the gap made smaller. when i was younger an xray revealed i didnt have any big teeth to come through so alot of my back teeth up and down are all milk and at the moment one is so lose i cant even brush it, i know it needs to come out as i know its making my breath smell but im so scared of having it out and dont know what my options would be to replace it, im 24 and really dont want a flase tooth i would like an implant. i also have a tooth missing which was a milk tooth and a g tooth never grew through which i would like replaced. what could i have done and how much would i expect to pay for this

Can I have veneer work done on the NHS?

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011
Q.

Hi there, i am soon to have veneers on my four front top teeth to reduce the large gaps that have developed since i had severe peritonitis last year. I had been hopeful that i could have this work done on or part on the NHS as i already suffer from severe depression and anxiety and these gaps have left me more reclusive and avoiding social situations. I explained this to my dentist but he said as the work was cosmetic i would have to pay the full amount myself and hasn’t applied or contacted the NSH on my behalf. I have made an appointment at my doctors to seek his advice too. Also i was originally asked if i could have a brace to close the gaps but the dentist said because of the past gum disease my teeth/gums might not to be strong enough to have a brace. He also originally said that there was no point just putting veneers on if my teeth were going to keep moving apart. He took xrays a few weeks ago and hasnt took me what the results were, ie if since my last xray the teeth have continued to move apart. Please can you advise my on the way to go forward with this, Thanks

My brace was removed too early and now I have gaps between my teeth, what can I do?

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011
Q.

Dear Mr Hughes,

I wore a brace when I was younger, but regrettably had it removed too early. I now have a few gaps, and I think some movement occurring. Although the top set are relatively straight, when I look at pictures of me smiling it looks crooked. Almost like my teeth are not in their correct, central position. Also on about 6 teeth my gums have receded and exposed the dentine, which is now brown. I am totally self-conscious and not sure what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards

I am 15 will I be able to have cosmetic work done or will I have to wait?

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011
Q.

Hi, I am wondering if you are able to chip/scrap of the bottoms of the tooth so that they are all equal and straight. Also I would like to have my gaps filled and teeth whitened however I’m only a teenager, I’m 15 so I doubt my teeth would have not full developed. Would you only do this on extreme conditions or if I was to request it, also how much would this cost? I have done some research and I have found baking soda does actually help whiten your teeth. Anyway thank you for taking the time to read my dilemma hope you can help thanks.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you.

My teeth are gapped and my gums bleed regularly, what are my options for treatment?

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011
Q.

Hi Dr.

I am not comfortable with my dental arrangement. The teeth on my lower jaw, talking about the front part, are not align properly with about two-tooth size gaps in between. The gum in the the same part seem to have worn out a bit but that has been the case since childhood and are always bleed when I brush my teeth

This causes me a lot of embarrassment especially have to give a presentation, etc. Is there a solution to this problem. Please help me. Thank you

What would be the best way to fill in a gap between my teeth?

Thursday, August 11th, 2011
Q.

I currently have a gap, top set, 5th from the front. I no longer want the gap as it’s effecting my confidence making me conscious when I smile. I have looked into having a bridge but didn’t know if I can if the teeth either side of the gap have fillings in and if not what are my options? I have had the gap for over 6 months. Also other than brushing, flossing, mouth wash, avoiding sugary foods as much as possible what else can I do to care for my teeth as they seem to be made of chalk and crumble!

What is the best way to close the gaps at the front of my mouth?

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011
Q.

I have gaps between my two front teeth and between my right front tooth and lateral incisor, and my left lateral incisor and canine. I want to get braces to fix this. Orthodontist says my bottom jaw is too big for my top jaw, so can’t close the gap. Lateral incisors did not grow wide enough, so there is spaces. They can shave my bottom teeth vertically, push them backwards and close the top jaw teeth a little, but will need bonding on the sides of the lateral incisors to close all gaps. I am not excited about bonding on lateral incisors. I was wondering if a veneer on the canines would be sound and they could widen that tooth instead of widening the lateral incisor. Question – would that look too odd or be not strong on a canine tooth? Especially since the problem is that my lateral incisors are the problem with not being wide enough? i don’t want my teeth to look too wide or unnatural. I want a long term solution.
