Hi. I’m 30 years old with uneven teeth, receding gums and lots of gaps. I’m getting really depressed over it, I don’t smile with my mouth open. I would love some advice to make me feel 100% better. It’s been troubling me for years and I would love to feel more confident. So please could you give me some advice or information on what to do? That would be gratefully appreciated and help me come out of myself again. It’s just mainly the fronts of my top and bottom teeth. Thank you.
Hello. I’m a 17 year old girl and I have about 5 or 6 gaps on my top teeth as well as on the bottom set. I wanted to know the best treatment to solve them. Some of my teeth on the top set are weirdly shaped so I don’t think braces will solve it. In terms of size I can fit my tongue between all the gaps on the top set. Please help me, I want to become a dental therapist/hygienist and I want to have the best teeth possible. Thank you.
Hi. When I was a teenager I was in an accident which basically ruined my teeth. After my first child and with a horrific fear of dentists but an even bigger pain in my mouth I decided together my teeth ‘sorted’ once and for all, I was put to sleep in an operation which I thought was to remove 4 teeth, when I awoke 10 had been taken out as they were just crumbling. I’m now 24 with a bridge across the front of my mouth and substantial gaps, I have no bottom teeth except my front 6, I hate smiling, I hate everything about them, eating is near enough impossible. I can’t even remember the last crusty roll/biscuit I ate, at least before I didn’t have to worry about my gaps showing or my bridge falling out. What are my options? I’m with a new dentist now and even though I have had drastic teeth removal my other teeth are basically crumbling too, the damage is done. Is there anything I can do?
Hello Dr Hughes. I have gap between my front teeth, and I am not opting for braces because I know that gaps open up after some time. I was thinking about going for veneers but keeping in mind their durability and the fact that my teeth have to be trimmed, I am thinking about going for Lumineers. I’m a 19 year old girl who has a terrible self-esteem because of her teeth. I’m not confident – at all! My front bottom teeth are gapped, which makes it look like I have a missing tooth, and often people think that I’ve lost a tooth. Not only that, but one of my front teeth has tooth discolouration, and I’ve never been confident enough to smile, ever – I don’t think I ever have, to be honest. Anyway, I’m thinking of getting them fixed asap, but I’m wondering about how much – roughly – would it cost me?

Do you get discount if you need a full set of veneers? I hate my teeth I have gaps and they are discoloured. I have spent a fortune on teeth whitening, only to be in pain afterwards. I must have sensitive teeth. Some of my gums are receding hence I get a lot of pain after the teeth whitening, plus it only lasts a short time then it goes back to dull again. Hi Dr Hughes. I have gaps starting to form on my top teeth, these include between the front two (slightly) and beside each tooth on the opposite side of my front teeth. I am 17 and I want to know what I can get to help (apart from braces). I have seen on the internet that you can get bands to buy to reduce the gap in your teeth, but I want to know what other options are available for me to help the situation. This has only been the case for 4-5 months now. It would be great if you could help me with some advice about what I should consider doing. Thank you!

I have gaps between my 2 front teeth as well as the next ones adjacent to them. The gaps are 2mm and 3mm respectively. So that would mean all 4 front teeth needing attention?
So the middle gap of 2mm either side the 3mm gap. Plus my front tooth is slightly crooked.
What would be my best option as I needed a quick solution for a wedding in the summer. Veneers or cosmetic bonding? I really would like my smile back and feel very conscious of the gaps at the moment.

I have had gaps in between my teeth since childhood but I noticed they have been widening. I am on an internship in Tunisia where I started my braces treatment, it’s been 10 months and I am due to leave in 6 weeks. So far, the 3 mm gap in between my front teeth has closed and so have the little ones on the bottom. However, I now have ‘2 mm’ gaps on each side of my 4 upper and bottom teeth (4 gaps in total). Whilst I would like to be patient with the treatment, in addition to relocating, I will be getting married in February 2014 and would really like to have the gaps closed before then. Would you recommend cosmetic bonding?
My other fear is that I have a long tongue which have been pushing the teeth out; I had a tongue thrust apparatus on for 3 months which has assisted in training the tongue to rest up in my mouth, however I am aware that if we push the teeth too far in, the tongue will still push them back out later on.

Hi. When I was younger, it was discovered that I had no “adult teeth” growing under my bottom two centre milk teeth, so I had them removed. I had a brace fitted to close the gap and another brace on my top teeth to straighten and close gaps. Unfortunately, at the time, I didn’t regularly wear the retainer to keep them in place so now my teeth have come apart again. I had a bridge fitted to the gap at the bottom but the gums behind the supporting teeth seem to get swollen and sore regularly. What would you recommend as an alternative to the bridge, and more importantly the gaps and alignment at the top? I was thinking lingual braces at the top would be best for me but I have quite small teeth. Kind regards.
