Will a Removable Device Help to Close the Gap in My Teeth?

Wednesday, May 20th, 2015
Q.

Sir
I am 39 years old. I have a gap between my side teeth, not the front ones, on the lower jaw.The gap is about 2-3mm wide. This gap has appeared gradually with time. Please can you suggest a suitable remedy for me? Do removable appliances work? For how long each day should they be worn? Actually, I have been wearing one for about 2 months and I wore them the whole night but can’t afford to wear them every night. I’ve had no visible results so far.

How Can I Close a Gap Caused by Ulcerated Gingivitis?

Tuesday, February 24th, 2015
Q.

I have a gap in between my front two teeth due to ulcerated gingivitis, which has now cleared up. I’ve noticed that my gum has shrunk away from my teeth and sometimes they hurt when I bite crusty bread or an apple. One of my front teeth has moved slightly forward as well. I brush my teeth twice daily and use inter-dental brushes when cleaning my teeth, plus use a mouthwash that is designed to improve gum health. What would you advise to correct this gap?

Can a Gap be Closed Without Loosening the Teeth?

Thursday, February 5th, 2015
Q.

Hello, I have a number of questions to ask. Firstly, I have little gaps between my upper teeth. A gap between central incisors, and between the lateral incisor and the central incisor (both the sides).
Can this gap be removed without my teeth becoming loose? Will this treatment be permanent? Secondly, I want to lighten the color tone of my teeth? I have a yellowish tone on my teeth.
Finally, is bleaching a good idea to lighten the color tone of teeth? I asked my local dentist he told me to get them bleached, or does it loosen the teeth attachment?
Thankyou.

Hi, Dr Hughes. Would It Be Cheaper To Only Straighten Two Teeth With Lingual Braces?

Thursday, October 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi, Dr Hughes. I hope that you can help me. I was wondering if it would be possible to get lingual braces for only 2 top front teeth which have a gap in them. Would that considerably lower the costs and if so how much would it cost?

Also again, what would the costs be if the bottom incisors (only 2) were to be straightened with lingual braces? Thank you for your reply in advance.

What Dental Cosmetic Options Are There Other Than Braces To Close A Gap?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I hope you can help me. I was just wondering if there is any other options for me other than braces? Basically the lateral incisor on the right side of my mouth sticks out, and there is only about a 3 mm gap between the teeth behind it. It also seems to push back the central incisor. I want anything other than metal braces or invisalign. I’d like a quick fix option ideally and I don’t mind having teeth removed etc. What are my options?

Kind regards.

Is There a Quick, Efficient Alternative to Braces for Closing a Gap Between Teeth?

Thursday, September 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Gambroudes, I am a 29 year old male and I have a gap between my front upper teeth, which is about 3-4 mm wide. I don’t want to have to wear braces, so is there a quick, efficient solution to fill the gap that doesn’t involve orthodontics? I’d really appreciate your help with this matter. Please inform me of the best solution for my situation, I’m really hoping there’s an effective alternative to braces. I don’t have a lot of money to spend and I’d like a fast treatment so I can get this gap filled as soon as possible. Thank you for considering my question, I look forward to reading your response.

I Am In The Final Few Weeks Of Braces Treatment But My Orthodontist Keeps Putting It Back. What Should I Do?

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I am 61 and have had braces for 3 years following periodontal treatment. My NHS orthodontist sees me every 8 to 10 weeks. My teeth are getting straight and she is closing the gaps. She is closing the gaps but I seem to be going round in circles. After a few weeks it looks like the teeth are finally in place but then other teeth move which shouldn’t. I also think that my appointments are too long in between. Each time I go I am told that in my next visit they will be removed and it’s getting frustrating now. What should I do?

My 3rd Aligner Fitted My Teeth Poorly And I Can’t Help Thinking My Aligners Are Moving My Teeth Into The Wrong Positions. What Should I Do?

Thursday, January 23rd, 2014
Q.

I am on my last set of simpli5 aligners, when I had the 3rd aligner fitted I noticed it fitted my teeth very badly, I gradually noticed one of my front teeth started moving away from the brace, leaving a gap between the tooth and the brace, this gap remained in brace 4 and its still there in brace 5. My dentist has said if it doesn’t catch up and move forward, we will return to brace 3 then 4 then 5 again. How will the previous aligners fit if each brace has moved my teeth? I was also told at the consultation that I would have X-rays but I didn’t end up having any. He has also said I may need to purchase another set of aligners. I just can’t help thinking the aligners have got ahead of my teeth now they are in the wrong position altogether, surely when the dentist fitted each new set he would know if I was ready for the next aligner?

How Long Will It Take For Braces To Open Up A Gap For A Dental Implant To Be Fitted?

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013
Q.

Hello there Dr Shaffie, when I was Twelve years old I had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now I am Eighteen years old and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, I am just wondering if I need the braces, then how long it would take to open up roughly 3/4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? Thanks, I really hope you can help me sort this problem out?
