I Have A Cyst Which Needs To Be Removed. If It Causes A Gap, Will The NHS Pay To Have This Fixed?

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014
Q.

My NHS dentist noticed that a couple of my front teeth appeared to be coming loose and did an X-ray. He found something on the X-ray and referred me to hospital. The consultant at hospital thought it was a cyst and arranged for a biopsy. The results of the biopsy confirmed that it was a cyst – apparently the sort that has a one in three chance of coming back (it has drained a lot since the biopsy) so I have been referred somewhere else for an operation. I may lose a couple of teeth and/or need a plate in my jaw! If after all the surgery I am left with a gap in my front lower teeth will I have to pay to have something done myself with my dentist or would the NHS sort it out because it happened as the result of an operation. I am a bit unclear as to whether I will just be left with a gap! Thank you for any advice.

I Have A Small Hole In The Gap Between My Teeth. My Dentist Missed It And It’s Starting To Bother Me. Should I Have Told Him?

Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I have a small hole located next to my front teeth, in the small gap between the two. It is very minute and when I went for a check up the dentist didn’t notice it at all so I didn’t bring it up, should I have mentioned that this bothers me? I feel I may need a small filling but how large does the hole have to be for this to happen?  Obviously I’d need a white filling with it being at the front of my mouth, any advice would be great. Thank you.

I Had A Brace Fitted A Few Years But Now The Gap Is Coming Back Between My Front Teeth. Please Offer Some Advice?

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. The problem I would like advising on is that I had a brace fitted when I was younger about twelve years ago to fix big gaps in my teeth as I have three missing wisdom teeth which have never grown through. After braces I had a permanent brace fitted behind my teeth to keep teeth together but now the gap is coming back between my two front teeth. It looks horrible and you can see the wire between my two front teeth. It has made me very self conscious. Please could you advise me on what can be done? Do you know why this has happened? Thank you, I hope you can help me.

Would Braces Work To Close My Gap And Eliminate My Overlap?

Thursday, July 11th, 2013
Q.

Would you close a gap due to extraction with an implant or braces. My front teeth slightly overlap, and as I have lost a tooth 6th from the front, I thought braces could pull the teeth back and close the gap, with bringing the 8th tooth forward slightly. I thought this could kill two birds with one stone, as I would lose the overlapping at the front, and also fill the gap. I spoke to my dentist and he won’t advise me on the best way, and I need a professional to tell me the best way forward please. The tooth was extracted quite a few years ago, so I would need a bone graft if I were to have an implant, My dentist has said that if I were to have braces, my centre line would be off, and he would either need to extract a tooth on the other side, or shave the front teeth. He also said he couldn’t be sure but he thinks I will get a black triangle between my front teeth once the overlapping is corrected. I really don’t know which is the best option. If I go with the implant, I will still have the crossed over teeth but the gap will be filled. If I go with the braces, both problems could be sorted, but there is much more interference with healthy teeth, ie getting teeth shaved and maybe another tooth extraction.

What would you think would be the best way forward?

How Would I Close Up The Gap Between My Front Teeth?

Friday, June 28th, 2013
Q.

hello, i have pretty straight nice teeth with abit of an overbite and a small gap between my front two teeth. im not really fussed about my overbite but i was just wondering what sort of price i would be looking at to close up my gap. as i am only 20 years old and when i was younger i couldn’t get it through the NHS or the royal marines, i was also wondering if it could be paid monthly instead of a one off cheque?  i understand that some private cosmetic practices do offer financial plans so am intrigued as to how they work and in what amounts. hope you can advise me. hank you.

Is It Okay To Place Braces Over A Maryland Bridge?

Thursday, June 13th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I wondered if you could help me? when i was 12 i had braces to open
up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my
missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now i
am 18 and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the
actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic
treatment, i am just wondering if the braces can be placed over the maryland
bridge i currently have and also how long it would take to open up roughly 4mm
of space for dental implants to be placed? This work is taking forever, I just want it finished!! I feel like my whole life is on hold…Anyway, thank you very much for in advance.

How Can I Close Up The Gap Between My Front Teeth?

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hello! I am fifteen, and over the last half a year I’ve noticed a gap widening between my two front teeth. It is not too wide, but wide enough to be noticeable. I had this stupid way of drinking which involved me sucking drink through my front teeth. could this be the source of the gap? Also, to be honest with you my brushing routine is not as thorough as I’d like it to be. I know this is my fault and is something that I will work on. With the gap though, could this be a sign of something bad? If not, how can I stop the gap from widening? Sorry for the hassle!
Thank you.

Would Veneers Be The Right Option To Rectify The Gaps Between My Teeth?

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013
Q.

Hi there, i would like to make an enquiry regarding veneers i have heard they are the most effective in straightening teeth making them more whiter and most importantly closing the gaps in between in order to enhance smiles  I’ve been wondering as my bottom set of teeth are fine but there are few gaps, well more precisely about 4 of them that need closing at the top and need to be straightened so is that possible with any of your procedures? Moreover how long will this procedure take? Are there any potential risks involved?

Thanks, looking forward to hearing back from you very soon.

I Have A Gap In My Teeth, What Are My Treatment Options?

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi I was wondering if I could get your expert opinion on a problem that I am currently facing , my front teeth has a lot of gaps this is because in my childhood I had calcium deficiency so my milk teeth fell at irregular intervals and the milk teeth were replaced by new teeth after what seemed to be a long time, my upper section of teeth are a bit protruding, I have already consulted a dentist and he has advised me to go for braces, but to go for that option I have to been told that I will need to extract some teeth which I am not ready to under go, due to the simple fact that it seems like it could be a daunting task and I have never had anything like that done in the past… I would be extremely grateful if you could  please suggest  me some alternative forms of treatment I could undergo which aren’t as petrifying.
