my teeth have relapsed after removal of my braces do you suggest i get braces done again?

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
Q.
Hi. I am 17 years old. I had braces for two years but a few months after I got them off, my teeth began to go back to their previous state. I had 4 teeth removed, my premolars I think and now there are small spaces between my teeth, when I went back to my dentist he gaved me Essex retainers, since I had lost mine. Now I need to get a crown in my front tooth. Do you suggest I get braces done again? I am very confused as when I was going to get a crown 3 years ago, my dentist said I needed braces first. Also, is it possible to get braces with a crown?

I have a severe overbite where my top teeth are rubbing the base of my gums when nocturnal grinding occurs. This has exposed my roots on the bottom teeth. I also have occasional tmj ear pain. Will invisaline (sp?) braces work for me? My teeth are also transparent and I was considering lumineers only after my bite is corrected of course.

Q.
Hi, what is the cheapest and fastest way to correct overcrowding of upper teeth in a 34yr old female? What options are available? What is the implication of leaving an impacted wisdom tooth which is not painful? Thanks

Hi Mate, Im currently with free NHS dentists. i am currently at the age of 17. My bottom teeth are stragih howevery they are slightly yellow. How ever my major concern is the top teeth. everything is sort of straight how ever my canines (3rd from each side -middle) are big to fit in their gap and are overlapping the other teeth on each side of them. . I wish to have my teeth straight as normal. However my rubbish NHS dentists say i will have to remove 2 on my teeth and that is what i wish not to do. Please can you provide me with more information and the prices for the type of treatment i may need. Cheers

I dont want to have braces when Im going to college

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I’m 15 years old and was told by my orthodontist this week that I’d need braces. The problems with my teeth which he stated in a letter were: (1) There’s a deep filling in the upper right 1st molar, this will need to be closely monitired. If it causes a problem it may need to be extracted or have root canal treatment. (2) There’s severe lower crowding and severe upper crowding (3) The upper front teeth are 3mm ahead of the lower front teeth (2-4mm is normal) (4) Upper and lower front teeth overlap excessively, a deep bite (5) Upper front teeth are left of center (6) Lower front teeth are right of center with the jaw relaxed (7) The molars are biting behind their ideal position He said I’d need to wear the braces for 2 years and a retainer after this. That’s my main problem as I’m half way through my second last year of school this would mean I’d still have the braces on when I’m goin to college and I have never liked the look of braces at all. Along with this treatment he say’s I first have to have four teeth removed (upper first premolars right and left, lower second premolars right and left). Would I be suitable for invisalign and if so how much in Ireland would it cost, how long would treatment take??? Thanks

Could you advise cheaper alternative orthodontist for ligunal and regular braces in central london?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello I’ve just seen an orthodontist regarding repositioning/straightening my incisors to achieve a better smile (they currently protrude slightly, in particular one of them). I would prefer invisible braces (lingual)and I was quoted £7,500 (or £6,000 for lingual on the top teeth and regular braces on the bottom). He estimated the process should take 12-15months. I would like to know whether these are representative costs for this treatment? Also, could you advise a cheaper alternative/location for a cheaper orthodontist. I am based in central London where the orthodontist I visited is also based. Regards and many thanks for any advice offered.

Fixed braces were removed too soon causing the overbite to return

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I have a 15 year old daughter who was referred to my local orthodontist practice with an overbite. They attached fixed braces to her teeth which they removed within 4 months. After which they gave my daughter plastic retainer to wear at night. But the retainers became mottled and stained so when i asked for new oes the practice said only at a charge of £40 which at the time I could not afford. Subsequently my daughter discontinued wearing the retainers and now her overbite has returned to it original state. I believe the fixed braces were removed far too early in treatment and had no knowledge that it was her one and only chance to have them free of charge and now I’ll have to pay to have them refixed which I cannot afford. Were’nt the practice at fault for removing them in haste and not fully explaining the situation. My daughter is sad/distressed at the state of her teeth and her fellow classmates have had fixed braces for 18 plus months not just 4months. Please could you advise me many thanks.
