My dentist asks me to have bonded retainer and transparent retainer is it necessary

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hello doc.. i’ve been wearing braces for 1 and half years and I will remove them by next month.. so, my doc suggested bonded retainer and I’ve worn it since. Now, when the braces will be completely taken off, he asked me to wear the transparent retainer as well. Should I follow his advice or just go with the bonded retainer, and not wearing the transparent? or perhaps I just wear it for upper teeth? thanks for your help..

im supposed to remove my braces in september and i am very unhappy with it can you advice

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Solanki, I’m contacting you for advice as I’m supposed to be alegedly having my braces removed in September, yet my teeth still in my opinon are just not right. I’ve raised the question with my Orthadontist on my last visit, yet he seemed to just blow me off and justify what wasn’t right. My two front teeth are not right. one is slightly further forward. The tooth next to one of my front teeth is visibly still behind, and where teeth have been removed in order to have the braces put on, there are still gaps. I just do not think this is acceptable and I am at a loss of what to do. He’s charged me 2200 pounds, already taken 6 months longer than I was originally told, and I’m very unhappy. I’m hoping you can advise me on what to do. Perhaps I could send you some pictures to look at of the dental work if you wanted to better understand what I’m describing. Thanks

Do damon braces need to be adjusted? will it still work properly?

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
Q.
Do damon braces need to be adjusted? My friend had this type of brace fitted in onother country and when he saw a dentist here for loose front lower brackets, they were replaced (3)by the traditional. Is this ok?will still work properly? and recently when he came back to the dentist, the dentist put elastics on him. i thought damon braces doesn’t need to use bands and elastics. He noticed as well that the lower right incisors have moved inwards, making her teeth more misalign. Please reply as he is worried that he is paying too much money and not receiving the proper tretment.

I need braces and my teeth has alot cavaties what can i get done about this on the NHS

Friday, May 1st, 2009
Q.
Firstly when i was younger, approx 9 i ahd my four canines taken out, due to over crowding. This hurt immensly, and i did not go to the dentist for about 8 years. When my canines came back through (adult teeth) they came through at the top, through the gums at the front like vampire teeth. When i went back to a dentist, they refered me to an orthodontist, who told me even as a student i had to pay for a brace, approx £4000-£5000. I did not agree to a brace, when i was younger, neither did my mother. they just used it as a remedy, now i am so self-concious, always cover my mouth etc. Also due to not going to the dentist for 8 years, i had alot of cavaties, and had to have my bottom far back tooth out, and my far back left, making it hard to eat. What can i get done about this on the NHS, as i am a student and cannot afford thousands of pounds. Also if nothing what can i get done privately and how much would it cost? thank you in advance

im 36 and the canine tooth has move outwards would it be a simpler as just having retainers

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello. I had a fixed brace fitted for two and a half years when i was 14 to straighten my teeth. The main problem at the time was over crowding causing a descending canine tooth to protrude over the other teeth. This was sorted out by the brace and my teeth were perfect. I am now 36 and the canine tooth has with time slowly began to move outwards so it is becoming prominent and is spoiling the curve of my teeth. Would i have to go through the whole process again (bar removing any more teeth as i had 4 taken out last time) or would it be a simpler and cheaper procedure as all the work has been done previously, such as just having a retainer of sorts? I hope this makes sense. Kind regards Clive

Q.
I have an 11 year old son who has “goofy teeth”. He has not yet got all his adult teeth through, would he be able to have the 6 month braces treatment, or will he have to wait until all his adult teeth are through?
