Hi! I Have A Broken Tooth And I’m Afraid It Will Hurt To Get Treatment To Sort It Out. Do You Know Of Any Natural Remedy?

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes! I really want to ask you a question. I’m a teenager and I have a broken tooth. It’s my first time that this has happened in my entire life. It hurts only sometimes when I eat, but not that often. I’m afraid to remove that bad part of the tooth from a dentist with those tools they use because I know it’s painful. Is there any home remedy or natural substance that with help me remove that part and then go to the dentist to fill it? Thanks a lot.

Hello I Am Very Nervous When It Comes To Visiting The Dental Practice, Is There Anything That Can Be Done?

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013
Q.

Hello,
I am a very nervous person about going to the dentist, I do not know what to do and would like some advice. I have a couple of teeth which have been knocked out and a few missing teeth, I also know I need fillings. I find eating certain foods difficult and I feel uneasy when I have to properly smile and I don’t feel confident when opening my mouth. My confidence of attending the dentist is very low, I do want to get treatment on my mouth but I am very nervous. Do you have suggestions on what I should do and do cosmetic dentists provide a service to nervous patients?

How Much Is It To Get Two Implants As I Have A Drifting Issue?

Friday, September 27th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. My problem is that I am in need of a molar implant as after having it taken out when I was sixteen, it has now caused a drifting issue but also I need my second molar on the left taken out due to a bad filling and I am really paranoid about the gap from the previous extraction, so much so that I fear that if I have this other one taken out I won’t be able to smile again.

How much will it cost to have two implants? I don’t really want bridges as they would have to file the teeth down and they look really noticeable and that’s something that I don’t want. Thank you in advance for any advice, I hope you can help.

Hello Doctor, I Want To Know If Any Remaining Decay Can Cause Health Problems In Later Life.

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor, I have a bit of a weird one for you. Basically when I was very young, I didn’t clean my teeth properly and this led to decay in my mouth. I had a few teeth taken out as a child when suffering from severe toothache. Into my teenage years I began cleaning properly and everything, still had to have a few fillings and I think we were on the way to making my teeth strong enough for braces. The top row is quite crooked and one of my front teeth overlaps another. Recently I have had no toothache but am worried about the state of my mouth and want to get it fixed. What problems might I have in later life if there is still some sort of remaining decay that I don’t know about? Are there any serious health risks? I look forward to reading your response. Cheers.

Should I Get An X-ray Check For My Chipped Teeth?

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, I had a fall yesterday and chipped the bottom of two of my front teeth. About one quarter of each tooth is chipped off. I went to see my dentist immediately and she told me that no nerves are exposed, and to wait for about five days for the teeth to heal before doing the filling. My teeth only hurt if they are tapped, and then it feels sensitive and quite sore. I asked if an X-ray is needed, and my dentist said no. In the meantime, she gave me painkillers. I would like a second opinion. Is she right that I should wait a couple of days to do the filling and not immediately? I would be very grateful to have your advice, thanks so much!

Should I Allow My Son To Have Treatment For His Decayed Teeth?

Monday, June 10th, 2013
Q.

Hi,
Im currently residing in South Africa, and would like to have your opion as well as my local dentists. My son will be turning 3 in August, and he has a few teeth that are starting to “decay” they have what looks like a yellow film on the teeth.(not all, just some). I was told that he would have to go into theatre to have these teeth filled, one of which he wants to remove the nerve. Alote of people say that its not necessary to worry about the baby teeth as they fall out anyway, so what i want to know, is can I leave his teeth as they are , or would you recommend that he go to theatre

How Much Would My Filling Cost From A Private Dentist?

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013
Q.

I have been to see an NHS dentist and says the enamel on my teeth is badly worn out. Was given a fluoride toothpaste but there was no improvement. I think the best bet would be to fill it, and am thinking of going private to make it quicker cos my NHS dentist keep asking me to come back next week and then another week and so on. It is really annoying cos all I need is to sort the tooth out so the pain can go cos it is giving me headache in my head and pain in my ears. NHS is wasting my time. So I would love to go private and would like a rough estimate of the fees am going to be paying for filling on private treatment.

My Filled Tooth Is Aching Still, Do I Need A Root Canal?

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013
Q.

I had my back tooth filled over 2 weeks ago and am still in pain, went back to dentist today and he gave me toothpaste, I am still in pain what can I do? He also gave m some more fillings altogether 3. I am on benefits, do you think he is trying to make money out of me and why hasn’t he taken an x ray? – I feel there is something not quite right with this dentist. The pain is circulating around my tooth, The tooth he filled was previously looked at by another dentist who said I should have a root canal, and this dentist said he could save it but I am still in pain.

Why Am I Having A Filling When There’s Barely A Hole?!

Friday, January 18th, 2013
Q.

I went to the dentist today I have not been for over a year as my previous dentist retired and it has been hard with work trying to arrange an appointment I went for a check in and was asked if I had a problem with my teeth the only problem I had was once every couple of weeks when i am brushing my teeth at the back i it feels a little bit tender but apart from that no pain etc so the dentist could not see anything so she said she was going to do xrays so when the results came back on the left hand side of my teeth at the back she showed me my tooth and pointed out a very small dot that i could barley see and said i would need a filling i have never had a filling before and i dont understand why the dentist would want to give me a filling when there is only a little bit of decay can you help me get my head around this?

Would an onlay stop food becoming trapped in my back teeth?

Friday, December 7th, 2012
Q.

Hi, dr moore. I have a filling which spans the back 2 upper left molars. I have noticed that when I eat I get food trapped, I presumably underneath the filling, which is causing pain and it smells really bad.
My dentist told me that it is because my gum line has shrunk and the food is getting stuck between the gum and the filling.

She said replacing the filling would not necessarily stop the food becoming trapped. another dentist told me that instead I could have a dental onlay but it is much more expensive. Would an onlay stop the food being trap or will it always happen because of a shrunken gum line? I don’t know which option to go for and I need it fixing ASAP. Thank you for any help, kind regards.
