I had some work done but I think the dentist made a mistake, what should I do?

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011
Q.

I had a root canal in #3 and had a crown put on 9-09 at which time my dentist removed the crown which had been on 6mo. He then put a post in. This tooth never felt right. Ater he removed the permanent crown he then put it back on.7-10 I had pain went back to tell him of the pain in that tooth. Now he tells me there is a lrg decay and the tooth must be extracted along with #2 I am so upset.I feel he was totally neligent.
Thank you

Can you tell me whether my predicted cost of an extraction, bridge and implants is correct?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011
Q.

Hi
My dentist suggests I have 2 implants and a bridge of one tooth added . Teeth 4 and5 implants and 6 is the bridge. I have to have teeth 5 and 6 roots removed as tooth 4 is already removed . The cost of this is quoted as £6350.00 . Do you think that cost is accurate? Only need bone on 1 implant.

My adult incisors have not grown normally and caused a lot of problems, what would you recommend?

Monday, February 21st, 2011
Q.

I have a problem that has baffled most of the dentists I’ve seen. My incisors are baby teeth that never fell out. Apparently the adult teeth are lying above them in the palate but are horizontal not vertical. The teeth have been filled and are badly discoloured and I have hated them for years (I am now 51). Now I think I may be in danger of losing one and am at a loss where to go for help as I was told that implants are out of the question due to the location of the adult teeth above. My last dentist suggested veneers on them but with a risk of loss I was scared to try. I have just moved to the UK (Melksham, Wilts) and don’t know where to start looking for help.

I am in a lot of pain after having my wisdom teeth removed, what can I do?

Monday, February 21st, 2011
Q.

I had my two wisdom teeth removed on 09.02. and ever since the pain was so bad that I went to see my dentist 6 days later. I was prescribed antibiotics and antibacterial medication, however the pain continued. On the 8th day I went again and the doctor cleaned the socket and put some medication in. I felt relieved for the rest of the day and slept well during the night but on the next day the pain continued. Honestly the pain is not as severe as it was but still when I lay down it increases and I could not go to sleep. I feel like a walking zombie, never being so miserable. The other thing that concerns me is that my lobe is somehow stiff. After the surgery I felt it was numb but I thought it was from the anastetics. Now when the pain comes, it spreads up to the same lob. This morning I also had a strange feeling going down my neck. I feel horrible and panicking a lot. My doctor ensured me that the condition is improving but I can’t bear it anymore. My doctor told me that it could take up to 3-4 weeks to heal due to the infection. Is everything that I described normal? Is it normal the pain to appear every tiem I put my head down? Please, help me what to do?

My mother has a number of medical conditions and needs implants, would she be able to get them on the NHS?

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011
Q.

Hi ,
My 50 yr old mother has sjogrens syndrome, RA and diabetes. Her teeth are now pretty bad and she is facing a full mouth of extractions. As she is unable to wear dentures due to her Sjogrens and dry mouth, can she have a full set of dental implants on NHS?

How much will it cost to have a broken tooth extracted?

Friday, February 4th, 2011
Q.

I have just noticed that at some point today, the top back tooth on the left hand side of my mouth has broken. Because it’s so far back I can’t see it in the mirror, and the part that’s broken is on the side nearest my cheek. It feels like most of it’s gone, and I can feel my gum where the tooth used to be – is the best option just to get the rest of the tooth removed? If so, are you able to advise what NHS band this would come under? It doesn’t hurt at all, I only noticed when I moved my tongue along my teeth.

Thanks 🙂
