I Have Been Told That I Could Have A Lower Bone Graft For Dental Implants. Does This Sound Correct?

Wednesday, October 8th, 2014
Q.

Hi. I have a full lower denture that is totally loose and unretentive to the point where I have to remove it in order to eat, although aesthetically it looks good.
I have been advised that I need a bone graft as the lower gum has been ground down to such an extent. I have no suction retention whatsoever due to a very dry mouth induced by necessary medication I need to take. I have been advised that after a lower bone graft I could be fitted with two conventional implants to give retention. My previous mini implants were unsatisfactory and needed to be removed. Does the advice I have been given sound right to you and does your clinic carry out such work?

Many thanks.

I Have Been Told That I Should Now Have Dentures For My Upper Jaw. I Have A Hypersensitive Gag Reflex. Is There An Alternative?

Tuesday, August 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I have been battling periodontal disease for twenty five years and I have been told by my dentist that I should now have dentures for my upper jaw. I don’t think having five children has helped me. I am terrified that I won’t cope as I have a hypersensitive gag reflex. Is there any alternative at all? I have exposed roots and feel self conscious. I have a bridge and crowns across my 6 upper front teeth. I have a lot of bone loss, especially on the top right hand side. Due to neglect my oral hygiene as a child was very poor. I have worked very hard in adulthood to maintain good oral hygiene. I am a 56 year old non smoker.

I Suffer From Gagging Through My Dentures But I Can’t Afford Implants. What Should I Do?

Thursday, May 1st, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. About 3 years ago I had all my upper teeth out by a previous dentist, this should have been avoided, rather than persist with repairing my teeth, they were extracted one by one until they were all gone over a short time. My problem is, I don’t have enough bone for implants, this is slowly getting worse as time goes on. I don’t qualify for free implants and cannot afford to pay myself. I am 55 and the dentist that pulled the teeth said she is not prepared to do implant on the NHS as it’s not cost effective. I had 3 dentures made but none of them are any good. I suffer from gagging so my dentures were made without much
of the roof of the mouth intact. I’d like advice to what I can do next? Many thanks.

Q.

Can you assist and is it affordable. Can i also have part dental implants to support the upper dentures. Does it last for long, do you need to service it or have regular dental check ups at your local dentists and is it expensive to do so. Your support will be much appreciated, certainly approve 03 quality of life.

My bottom set of implants have no grip, would implants be the best option?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010
Q.
I have dentures top & bottom. The top set stays in position very well with suction BUT my bottom set has no grip at all and I have to apply Fixodent at least 3 times a day. Even then I can still get caught out after drinking or eating something hot resulting in the dentures popping up. Is the only solution implants? If so what would I require and what costs are involved?,
