Should antibiotic prophylaxis be given to someone with heart complications?

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011
Q.

I have recently been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis caused by a congenital bicuspid aortic valve. I need some extensive dental procedures which may include at least one extraction, one or possibly two implants, a repaired or replaced crown and veneer, and a new crown or possibly a bridge. I am currently symptom free and not on any medications. Would you please advise me on any additional risks associated with any of the dental procedures mentioned. Also, do you recommend taking precautionary measures?

How much does it cost to re-apply a veneer?

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011
Q.

What is the average cost of re-applying a veneer that has come off, including the preparation/cleaning and removal of cement from the veneer. Last time this happened I was charged £190.00 which I thought was excessive.

My dentist says lumineers are not as good as veneers, what do you think?

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011
Q.

My wife is looking to have a gap repaired in her front teeth and them restored to their original length and have veneers. We are worried about the amount of preparation required for veneers and so the possiblity of lumineers is attractive. However our dentist says that luminers are just a thin version of a normal veneer and the result will neither be as durable or as asthetically pleasing since there will always be an “edge” where the veneer meets the tooth using the lumineer approach. What do you think. Regards.

A.
I agree with your dentist

Could I get a vampire dental implant?

Friday, March 25th, 2011
Q.

hi justin
i have seen on cosmetic dentistry guide mention of vampire teeth implants and it was suggested a veneer be used however i have heard that there are american firms who will remove the canine that is already in place and replace it with an implant is this a possibilty at your practice (you are closest to me) and would you have any idea of what sort of cost would be involved approximately?

many thanks
