Q.
Hi, I’ve had 3 wisdom teeth taken out, and the last one is due out fairly shortly. My last experience (lower right wisdom tooth) was particularly horrific, and I am already nervous and anxious of the next one being removed. This is the lower left hand side wisdom tooth. I have been told that it is close to the nerve, as the x-ray shows the root of the tooth pushing the nerve. I have been told about complications of permanent loss of feeling, however I do not know the likelihood of this happening in my particular situation. How does nerve damage occur, and if the root of my wisdom tooth is as close as it is to the nerve, how likely is it this will happen? Any guidance appreciated.
