I Broke My Jaw A Few Years Back And Since Then My Top Teeth Have Started To Decay. How Can I Afford This Treatment?

Wednesday, December 18th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, I’m 25 years old and have some seriously bad teeth, to the point where I don’t smile! I did have my jaw broke a few years back and my teeth have got so much worse since then! I have been in a lot of pain in previous procedures and I don’t think I could go through it again! My main issue at the moment is a decaying surface on one of my top teeth which is very visible and it’s getting me down! Do you have any advice that can help me? Financially is there any thing you can help me with also? Thanks.

I Have Been Bullied For Years Because I Have A Large Chin, Please Help!

Friday, August 9th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I’m 32 years old and have suffered with real confidence issues since my school days due to a large chin I’ve been called every name under the sun. School was horrible, I would literally walk through the gates and be called the most awful things and this continued outside of it too. It has since made me feel very self conscious and as a result I’m a very introvert person and don’t say two words to anyone for fear that they’ll start mocking me too. I just wish I had heard about jaw surgery before I also have very crowded teeth and an overbite which also doesn’t help, looking back this is something I definitely feel should have been an option for me when I was younger

What would be my options now and who should I speak to about it?
Thanks

Where Can I Get Free Treatment So I Can Get My Life Back On Track?

Friday, June 21st, 2013
Q.

I am a 46 y/o woman whose dental issues have left me feeling completely hopeless. I am unemployed and see no hope of ever becoming employed again because as soon as I open my mouth during the interview I see that look that says I won’t be getting a call back and who can blame them. I can’t smile or laugh, or even attempt to interact with people, I even avoid family functions. The worst part though is the constant pain and inability to really eat. My diet consists of soft foods and even with those I basically have to swallow it nearly whole and have choked a few times and hate the stomach pains that accompany swallowing such large pieces of food. I am extremely desperate, I want to be able to live again and enjoy life. Is there a place that you can recommend that might be willing to give me back my life at no cost since unemployment doesn’t even cover the cost of my rent?

Can I receive the treatment I need through the NHS at the age of 29?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hello there Dr Butt. At 19 I had a brace for three years due to an overbite and was to undergo surgery on my jaw but decided I could not go through with this at the time as I was very scared and didn’t think my face would look better by moving my bottom jaw forward, I am now 29 and in severe discomfort when I eat my jaw always clicks and sometimes even locks at times and can get quite painfull also I am very embarrassed of my smile and have low self esteem because of this, after researching about this could I go for the surgery again and could I get this on the NHS, I have a 9mm gap between my jaw and front teeth and would really like to have surgery to correct this what can you suggest.

I have suffered for years as a result of poor dental work, I don’t know what to do! Please help!

i am a now very self conscious 40 year old womanwith a problem that is basically ruining my life at 20 years old and pregnant at th time i had majot problems with toothache and visited a local dentist at the time who has now ceased practicing, due to poor dentistry , i was unemployed at the time, and he said he was going to give me 6 gold inlays all in the upper teeth. i went to appointments and being niave at the time, wasnt aware until i visited another dentist afterwards that the gold inlays had been put on my teeth, without the removal of roots/nerves. basically it was a make money in claiming it bk from nhs for the dentist responsible. he explained it was impossible to remove the gold inlays as they were like cement onto the teeth and the only outcome in the future would be eventually i would lose them all if i had pain from any of them. This proved to be the case years later. and resulted in the worst thing for me as a woman to lose the teeth and be fitted a part denture. so far ive had 3 duer to b reaking when cleaning them etc. i have since visited another dentist who has once again done very poor dentistry work making matters worse after my usual denture smashed fitted me with a horrendous denture changing the way i look its totally wrong so im worse off now than i was before. i am currently unemployed first time for me in a very long time. so im not looking for a excuse to ask for free implants. my situation is one of a very genuine plea for advice as to where to turn too next . regards

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
Q.

my daughter had a recent check up and was told that she had a root coming through her gum from a old tooth, it was very visable the dentist asked if we would like it removed or wanted to have a go ourselves, shes 9 years old and i thought he was joking, i asked for it to be removed and waited three weeks for a appointment, my daughter has adhd and can get easly upset and frightened and as soon as she saw the needle she started crying, she was told okay your done with your crocodile tears you can go, i asked whats next they said nothing. I have looked at this root and she has broken some off, it is now going brown and she has already had an infection. I need to know where to go to have it out and can she be put to sleep.thanks

I have Hypodontia and I am in need of dental treatment. Can you make any recommendations for me go achieve good aesthetics?

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010
Q.

Hi,
I have severe Hypodontia, and I have 16 adult teeth and 5 milk teeth. I currently have a ‘sticky bridge’ on either side of my top central teeth. The gum above these is starting to turn a pale grey. I have regular dental check-ups and nothing has been said, I’m just wondering if this is normal or if i will need treatment of some sort?
Also, because of my lack of bone in the lower jaw, I haven’t enough bone for any implants later on (I’m seventeen) I would just like to know if there is any other treatments you would recommend to enable me to eat properly and to receive good aesthetics?
