i want to remove my gold tooth should i choose a white pocelain crown or tooth implant

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I have a front gold tooth that I want to remove. It’s 13 years old and has chipped at the tip. I am a professional now and attending board meetings with “important” people, where I do not want the stigma that associates with having a gold tooth. 1) Should I choose a white/pocelain crown OR do a single tooth implant? 2) Should I whiten my OTHER teeth before replacing the gold with a white/porcelain crown? 3) Or do you suggest something else?

is it possible to have crown on 16 teeth to make my teeth stronger whiter and possibly straightened

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I’m 27 and I have a couple of broken teeth, a few cavities and I’ve noticed some movement in my lower middle teeth. I have whitened my teeth with whitestrips and carbamide peroxide gel (I stupidly used to swish it around my mouth for 15 mins a day) and I think my teeth are severely weakened. I considered getting a crown a few months ago when one tooth broke, but lately have wondered if it would be possible to get crowns on 16+ teeth, some top and bottom (i.e. ones that show), to make them stronger, make them whiter, and possibly straighten them out. Is this viable? I’m wondering whether especially the straightening part is wishful thinking on my part. Thank you in advance for your help.

I didnt like the look of the crowns for my front teeth what are my options advise

Monday, May 25th, 2009
Q.
I have a cross bite. I have just had three front teeth prepared for porcelain only crowns £600 each. Titanium posts have been fitted. These are my two front teeth & one on one side next to them. The other side one remains & is a good tooth I want to keep it. When the crowns arrived for fitting a gap was evident between one front crown & the real remaining side tooth. My dentist explained as the temporary crowns had been on so long the real side tooth had been pushed across by them. Also that my bottom teeth had moved upwards to meet the temporary crowns although not obvious, to add to this the colour was not as translucent as my dentist wanted so they were returned for adjustment. Personally I didn’t like the look of them but then that may have been initial feelings. While being adjusted one of the crowns was broken & the original impressions cracked. The technitions have now said that they won’t make more porcelain only crowns for me & metal/titanium is the only option. I understand my remaining real side tooth is very white & matching the colour is a problem – I want to keep this tooth. My dentist has also said I might have to have some lower teeth adjusted bacause of the cross bite, I don’t want to touch my lower teeth to accomodate the new crowns. Also I don’t really want metal crowns having decided on porcelian from the start. The end result being my dentist has said it is now the only option unless I want to see a crown specialist or another dentist & has given me time to think about it/decide. I need to sort this out soon as am aware my teeth are moving & I don’t want to make things worse. What do you think – what would you do?

My teeth never have grown right as i only have 3 front teeth could you advise me on it?

Sunday, May 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi, when I was around 13 I fell off my bike and smashed all of my teeth out. Afterwards I needed them capping and fixing etc. But ever since then they’ve never grown right as I only have 3 front teeth, as apposed to 4. Which i’m very conscious about, and hate smiling, as when I do, all people do is look at my teeth, which isn’t good for my confidence. Plus, they’re slightly discoloured as different dentists capped different fillings on different occasions. Ideally i’d like to have 4 top front teeth (like most people) and would happily have my current ones ridden of. Could you advise me on what would be the best thing to do? Also would I be able to get it on the NHS or would I have to pay for it? If so, am I able to do so in installments? Thanks for taking your time out to read this.

I have only 8 teeth on top and 4 front teeth are capped i want dentures advice please

Sunday, May 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 50 yrs young and have been a smoker since I was 14. I have recently quit and am so disappointed in my teeth and their apperance I have only 8 teeth on top and 4 front teeth are capped. i had them capped due to decay in 1002. Amazingly the gums have not receded and the last dentist I saw 9a yr ago) told me that until they cause me trouble that I would not find a dentisit that will replace them. My teeth on the bottom are all there hence 2 bridges and lots of caps and root canals. I would just like to have dentures but I can not find anyone who will do it! I already wear an almost full bridge on top anyway and on bottom whatever I eat gets stuck in between them all. When i eat I am flossing and brushing right after each snack and meal, wow what a pain. What should I do, I really just want dentures:).

my crown is unstable is it advisable for me to continue playing the saxophone

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
Q.
I have recently had a crown replaced on a lower front tooth. As my usual dentist has recently left the practice the new dentist carried out the replacement but felt it was rather unstable and that I should have had been advised to have an implant. She didn’t feel she could embed the post sufficiently due to concern that the root would break. From her comments about it not being a very strong repair I am now not sure it is advisable for me to continue playing the saxophone which is of immense significance to me. I don’t if you can advise me from this information alone but any guidance would be gratefully received.
