I want to save my tooth from rotting but is root canal treatment really around £300?

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr Rob, i have had tooth rot running through my teeth for some years now.Subsequently i have lost a lot of teeth. Having visted the dentist 11/2/2011,another rotten touth has been found.I am on the n.h.s and have been told that it will not come under n.h.s funding and unless i want to pay for it it is not worth saving the tooth.I have been told it will be in the region of £300 ,i would like to try and save the tooth. Is the cost of route canal treatment this much? The dentist is worried also that the route canal will not work.I sure there is not much you can say but as i wil have to have denture i am concerned. Would it better to loose them slowly and then spend i dont know how much have permanent teeth fitted. Any thing you can tell me or advise me would be helpfull. Yours gratefully

I want to replace my veneers and get my teeth whitened, how much would this cost?

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011
Q.

Hi there, i have veneers on my 2 front teeth. I have had them since i was about 10 i think, after a long run of work done from when i fell when i was a baby, and smacked both sets of teeth into my head, so i had to have years of work done which resulted in the veneers. I would like them replaced, and the rest of my teeth whitening if possible, And i was just wondering how much it would be around? As they are really getting me down?
Thank you

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011
Q.

i am 16 years old and i am TERRIFIED of going to the dentist. however i have a cavity on the left side of my mouth and the tooth is the one right next to the left front tooth i had my left front tooth fixed it was cracked at the top of the tooth. then about a week after i had that fixed i realized my tooth to the left of it had a cavity on it and its on the right side of the tooth…. I brush my teeth about 4 or 5 times a day as i have done for YEARS. then my other front tooth chipped at the top…. the cavity next to the left front tooth has made my tooth i had fixed kind of turn a brown stainy look on it. i cant afford $500. per veeneer. i cant pay for laser treetment. how do i fix this because im terrified of the dentist.. please help me bacause i want this problem fixed before it becomes a bigger problem for me.

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011
Q.

My teeth are all worn down. I am 59 years old and my dentist wants $30,000 to reconstruct my teeth. Can this be real or is he wanting me to put his kid through collage?

I am looking at getting my veneers replaced but I have peridontal disease, is it worth it?

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011
Q.

I have periodontal disease which I have had treatment for, and visit the dental hygienist 3 times a year. I now maintain excellent daily oral hygiene. (My dentist did not tell me I had this disease, but when the dark pockets appeared I looked it up on the internet and asked him to make me a referral). I was a smoker at the time but he did mention that I should give it up because it causes bone loss but he clearly was economical with the truth. I was horrified. I lost 3 back teeth before diagnosis.
I have 6 veneers which were carried out by my previous dentist 20 years ago.. i still maintain them but of course I have periodontal pockets in between. I had the main treatment for the disease 5 years ago and have had no problems since. I am currently 54 years old and wondered whether it is worth the cost of replacing these given that perio. disease is chronic. I have been quoted £600 per tooth. Many thanks.

Is £2500 for a dental implant reasonable?

Monday, January 24th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr Moore, I just got an infection in an upper molar who got a root canal 23 years ago, and a crown with post. My dentist suggested to not redo the treatment for high possibility of failure, advising to put an implant as a better option, his price is £2500 for all.
I do think it is a bit expensive, and turned off by the long time procedure.
What is your advice, and how much do you charge, and especially, do you think would be possible to do a same day implant in my condition(still have my tooth roots).Thank you
