My Son Grinds His Teeth, And His Dentist Has Recommended Veneers. Is This The Only Suitable Treatment?

Tuesday, October 8th, 2013
Q.

Hi, my son of 20 years grinds his teeth a lot. He visited the dentist last week and she has said he needs veneers on his four front teeth as their particularly small. I am quite worried as he seems so young. Is there something else they can do? It seems she did not really consult him with any other option. I am also concerned because it seems from reading about them that they do not last too long. Can his teeth not be crowned? Please help.

Are my teeth moving back because I’m not wearing my retainer often enough?

Monday, September 3rd, 2012
Q.

Hello. I hope you are well.
I am 32 years old and I wore a brace for a year and now have a retainer on the top and bottom rows of my teeth. I have noticed that my bottom teeth are moving a little and going back to their original place – which was originally very crooked. This is really concerning me. I had white fillings to line them up so should I go back and get crowns on the bottom to stop the movement and make them look better or is it that I am not wearing the retainer often enough?
Id like to have really nice looking teeth. I had a crown on the front and whilst I was really happy, its colour appears to be less like the other teeth – which puts me back to square 1can you give me some advice please?

I had crown treatment months ago and my tooth is very painful, what is causing this?

Monday, August 20th, 2012
Q.

I had a crown put on about a year and half ago, straight after I was in pain and had to take anti biotics. It has never really felt right since, but then the tooth next to it needed a crown, so that was done. The first one carried on hurting over the months so I asked dentist to take the crown off. He did and tried to put another one on, but it was too painful so I asked hon to leave it off for a while. The pain is shill bad burning and aching all the time. It hurts more when I lay down at night. He did another root canal on it but it has made no difference. What should I do now please as dentist says it can only be one of the teeth needing root canal, but I am in so much agony around the gum and bit of tooth that is left and it’s hurting my jaw as well I think. Thank you.

I am worried that my son’s teeth will not develop correctly in the future, what should I do?

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012
Q.

hello,

my 9 year old son got tripped over at school today when he was running and fell on the school playground and hit his face onto the ground and broke a few of the teeths at the front, the front top 2 tooths were broken in half with sharp egdes and a couple below has small pieces broken off too.
i took him to the dentist straight away but had to wait 2-3 hours to be seen and they have placed some tempory filling and also some cream on where his nerves are exposed behind 1 of the front teeth.
they have booked him in again in 2 weeks time for fillings.
will this effect his damaged teeths in future?
will the filling break off and will he need to change his teeths when he gets older as he’s only 9 years old now.
i am very worried, please advise me!

best regards.

My teeth are very worn down due to severe acid erosion, how much should I expect to pay to have this problem fixed?

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi Doctor Moore, I am a 38 year old man who has suffered with bulimia for many years, it is now in remision. I have a fair amount of acid erosion and shortening of my teeth. I see my dentist every six months and he tells me my oral hygeine is very good. I am concerned about how my teeth look and how long they will last. I feel it my be time to get something done. I am an anxious patient even though I am a health care profeesional, my anxiety is also exacerbated by the shame of being a male with this illness. Could you tell me what my options might be and how much I could be expected to spend.
