i cant really see any point in having damaged and crocked tooth can i have implants done

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Moore. I had a rather freakish accident on christmas eve a couple of years ago where a shoe from a collegue of mine ended up smashing into my front teeth from very close range. This resulted in the damaging and loosening (almost knocking out) of one of my 2 central teeth in my upper jaw. I had emergency dental treatment at the hospital where the loose tooth was attached to its neighbour and allowed to heal naturally. Unfortunately and unsurprisingly this now means that the tooth is crocked. Moreover the tooth became infected started to die. Since then i have had a root filling carried out by my local dentist. On a recent visit to the dentist i conplained that the tooth was again becoming uncomfortable and the dentist informed me that the filling had failed as the infection had returned and the root was wasting away. He told me that the best thing to do was to see a specialist privately (i’m an NHS patient currently) and have another root filling. My problem with this is that i can’t really see any point in having a damaged, crocked and TWICE capped tooth filled only for it to not look very nice. I have in the past had both my central upper teeth capped and have been looking into having both these teeth replaced with implants. The trouble is that it seems to be a mine field when it comes to cost, proceedure and healing time. Could you please shead some light on this for me? Many thanks,

my husband has brown discoloured teeth and they are crooked what could be done

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
My husband (age 51) has brown, discoloured teeth. They are crooked. Some back teeth missing. He eats slowly because of the lack of some teeth! I just wondered what could be done to make his teeth look great? I suppose the cost could not be estimated without actually seeing him but is there an option for monthly payment scheme? (He does Bupa cover, however, I do not know what dental treament they cover apart from wisdom tooth removal).

Q.
Hello. I’d like some advice please. I have crooked front teeth and this is now affecting my life. I am embarrassed to smile and am very self conscious about it. I would like to know if veneers would be an option available to me and how much they would cost? I am also quite afraid of dental treatments and am afraid I may end up worse off. Please help.

I realy want to be able to smile again, have pictures taken with my son and go out with my friends without wearing a scalf over my face. I have asked my dentist to take them all out and give me dentures, but he said he wouldnt recommend it as the way my mouth is(i have had bone grafts etc) he doesnt think that i will be able to hold them. There must be something i can have done. I dont have much money but am willing to do what i can do be able to afford to have something done to them(finance is not an option for me) All i want is to be able to smile at people most importantley my son and to have the confidence to be able to go out without my scalfs.

Monday, May 18th, 2009
Q.
Since having my son 6 years ago i have lost a few teeth and a lot have crumbled or are crumbling and leaving very unsightly gaps. i want to get a nice smile back but am unsure in how to go about it and what procedure to take. i have seen many dentists and have just been told that it may be best removing them if they get worse. can you offer me any advise on what would be the best thing to do as it is getting to the point where i just keep trying to cover my mouth up so no-one can see my teeth. thankyou very much for you time.

my top 4 incisors slightly crooked what would you recommend for this? i like it to be straight

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009
Q.
Hello, wonder if you can help me… My 4 top incisors are slightly crooked, but the right-most incisor sits slightly behind the others and rests behind my lower incisors when my mouth is shut. This can sometimes look like I am missing a tooth and over the past couple of years I have noticed it is becoming harder to keep the tooth clean and it has developed a small pit in the enamel. What treatment would you recommend for this? Ideally I would like all my incisors to be perfectly straight.

Monday, May 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi. I have crooked yellow teeth that are cracking and falling out and every tooth is decayed. I’m 32 years old and never had an attractive smile, and its terribly embarrassing. Id like to know if you feel dentures would be an option for me as implants are too expensive. Thank you.

i had overcrowding and why is my premolar removed instead of wisdom would it alter my face

Monday, May 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 27 years old and recently had 4 teeth removed (pre molars)in order to have braces put on. After reading online, some say teeth should never have to be removed. I did have overcrowding and all my life dentist did tell me if I was ever to get braces, teeth would need to be removed. I guess my questions are: Why remove premolars instead of wisdom? Does it really alter my face? And, the average human should have 32 teeth, now i only have 26. Should I be worried? Is it common to have that many teeth removed?
