I have chipped my front teeth is it possible to have tooth bonding?

Friday, September 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi there. I have recently chipped one of my front teeth. I do not wish to get it filed down as my other front tooth is a crown, and this would only make the crown look bigger! Is it possible to have tooth bonding on this front tooth? It is a small thin chip, and only noticable up close. If so does this need to be done privately or can it be carried out on the NHS? thank you for your time

My teeth are badly rotten can i get treated for implants at NHS?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’m 22 years old and i have a big problem with my teeth, my teeth have always been weak but since I’ve had my two children they have gone really worse, the front of my teeth have badly rotten and are falling apart, I’m extremely embarrassed and scared to go to the dentist as I’ve had bad experiences with them, i have had some teeth out already at the back, i was just wondering if there is any way these teeth could be saved or if tooth implants are possible for me on the NHS as I’m only on benefits, thank you for taking the time to read my question

im suffering from sensitive gumline after restoration plz advice?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had a white restoration on a lower right molar today. After having drilled out the bulk of the old filling, my dentist was using an instrument with some force when the inner side of the tooth broke off (I felt it ‘go’ and it flew up into my line of sight). As a result, he “was not able to contour the tooth the way he would have liked to” and (now the anaesthetic has worn off) the restoration feels quite uncomfortably sensitive on the gumline and the tooth has an unnatural shape that seems to trap food when I eat and which feels weird as well. After the procedure, my dentist said that things hadn’t gone as expected and he’d “used an instrument to check how strong the tooth was and sometimes during this procedure, the tooth breaks”. Having thought about this it seems completely counter-intuitive that someone would risk breaking the structure of the tooth as he stated and I’m sceptical that he told me the truth. Is there such an instrument to test the strength of the tooth? My feeling is that it broke while he was using a ‘pick’ to try to break out some old amalgam filling in the drilled cavity. I like my dentist and he’s done really good work for me in the past, but having parted with £170 for this procedure (on top of the other charges for Hygienist Visit, X-Rays and 10 Point Exam the previous day), I suddenly lack trust in him and I’m wondering if I should spend my money elsewhere in future. I appreciate that any answer you might give is nothing more than an opinion and has no legal meaning or weight, but I’d really appreciate your take on this situation as I’m at a loss as to what I should do. Best regards,

Q.
Dear Dr.Safeer Butt DURING THE EARLY YEARS OF MY STUDENT LIFE in SCHOOL I HAD A FALL AND SUSTAINED A FRACTURE RIGHT UPPER CANINE AND LOSS OF VIABILITY OF CENTRAL INCISOR ON UPPER RIGHT TOOTH. INITIALLY THERE WAS NO ANY PROBLEMS. AFTER COMPLETING MY SCHOOLING I HAD STEEPED IN TO THE COLLEGE IT HAD STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS LIKE PAIN AND SWELLING. IT USED TO SUBSIDE WITH ANTIBIOTICS USAGE. AFTER COMPLETING THE SCOOLING STEPPED IN TO THE PG COURSE ALSO IT WAS THE SAME SCENARIO. THEN STARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERE PAIN IN TOOTH. IT WAS SO HAPPENED I CONSULTED THE DENTIST HE HAD SUGGESTED ME THE CHOICE OF RCT AND ALONG WITH THE EXTRACTION OF THE FRACTURED TOOTH CANINE. UNDERWENT THE EXTRACTION. RCT WAS CARRIED OUT. NO PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST 5 TO 7 YRS. GADUALLY THE PAIN RE APPEARED AND STARTED WITH ANTIBIOTICS IN BETWEEN THERE WAS A FACTURE OF CROWN 1 YR AGO AND THE BRIDGE WAS RE CONSTRUCTED. NOW THE PAIN RE APPEARS ONCE IN 6 MONTHS. SUBSIDES WITH ANTIBIOTICS. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT? KINDLY GIVE ME YOUR VALUABLE SUGEESTIONS, OPINIONS AND FURTHER MANAGERIAL LINES. THANKING YOU.

Will the wobbling teeth in braces automatically stiffen itself?

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan. I’ve just had my braces put in. Three days after having them put in when my teeth were stull tender, sore and not as stable, I fell and hit one of my front tooth on the ground, which resulted in some bleeding seeping out from that gum line. Now four months after, that tooth now clicks when I push it with my tongue, and feels ‘wobbly’ to a degree. It will become stiff again like before, or will I need a procedure to strengthen its stability? Thanks

Im terrified that ive cracked my lower teeth what should I do

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009
Q.
Hi yesterday I walked under a sign and stood up too quickly bashing my head on the metal pole and biting hard on my teeth. My lower teeth look like they have some fine lines (the left bottom has a 45 degree line at the top and the right line around the top down and up) and I seem to have a dull pain – I am terrified I have cracked them – all the dentists are away on holiday for 3 weeks – I am supposed to start my holiday but am beside myself

Ive split cracked root of my root filled teeth is extraction the only option?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009
Q.
I have lost the filling from a large molar tooth at the very back of my mouth. In the process I have split/cracked the root of apreviously root filled tooth. I expected a crown but my dentist feels extraction is the only option. What do you think? I am concerned as most of my mouth has had extensive work and I feel that extraction is the beginning of the end!!
