Is there any way I can get cosmetic dentistry without paying a fortune for it?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010
Q.
I’ve had problems with my teeth for as long as I can remember. But now things are getting worse. Despite regular brushing and using mouthwash my teeth are quite discoloured and now I’ve also noticed I have 3 loose teeth. I want to have more confidence when I smile but now I need implants as well. Unfortunately I’ve been made redundant and can’t afford to have the work done. Is there anyway I can get a brighter smile at least without paying fortunes for it?,

I’m scared about my problem and would like to know if veneers are a good option?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
I have a misplaced line on my top teeth and my right 3 rd tooth (canine) was removed when i was 15 years old so my smile is not symetrical, i dont want to have braces as im not confident enough. I have considered having veener work done on 4 of my front teeth to create a symetrical smile. Honestly im scared and really want some good advice on whether this could be a good option for me. I need to find somthing that will not destroy my confidence any longer. I’m 28 years old now and i think veneers could be a calm option for me.,

What kind of treatments can I have to address my receding gums and gaps?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
I am 39 and 6 years ago I was told I had gum disease & 1mm of horizontal bone loss. since then I have followed a strict oral hygiene regime and thankfully my problem is very much under control. The problem is I have been left with receding gums and I am absolutely at my wits end! I have no confidence & certainly don’t feel like smiling. I thought of veneers to maybe close up the gaps? but having read your web page, has there been recent success with the graft? Please help,

Can you please advise me on some treatment, and whether you offer finance options?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr Solanki I’ve actually been to see you before and really loved how comfortable I was made to feel as I’ve always been frightened of the dentist ever since I was little. When I was a child I was registered with a not very good dentist who tried and tried to fill one of my front teeth, spread filling stuff all over the tooth next to it, and eventually ended up putting on a very bad and bulky veneer. I’m almost 30 now, and I want my front teeth sorting out… I hate having my photo taken, as when I smile, I feel like the veneer sticks out and is magnified by the fact that the filling is still all over the tooth next to it and is quite discoloured… Also my two very front teeth overlap slightly, and one of them has a tiny chip in it, but it all adds to the downfall of my smile! What would you recommend? I know it’s going to be expensive, and wondered what kind of finance options you offer? Like most people, I don’t have much money going spare, but feel it would be worth it to regain confidence in my smile. Thanks,

My sister is really depressed about her teeth. What would you suggest?

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010
Q.
hi there, my younger sister is 15 years old and she is very depressed about her teeth. Her teeth have decayed and discoloured and she has also got missing teeth. Her teeth are affecting her confidence and i am very concerned, i have caught her crying a lot and she also does not go out with her friends much anymore. would you suggest going to the doctors to see what they say as there are many people that get such things free on the nhs when it is causing depression… many thanks,

What would be the best plan of action to sort out my teeth and get my confidence back?

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I suffered with Bulimia for over 10 years from a very early age. Im now 25, have children of my own and I’m currently planning my wedding but dont feel confident smiling in front of a camera, let alone talking to people face to face. All my teeth are visably thinning and discoloured. Ive always had a gap at the front of my teeth that Ive never been happy with but this has appeared to widen because the deterioration of the teeth from behind. I would also need the bottom four (in the centre at the very front of the bottom row) teeth removed as not only are they an eyesore as they are not in line at all with the rest of the teeth in my mouth and are in poor condition. I dont know what to do, I am constantly left with a reminder of the illness I have overcome and I would just like to get my confidence back again and completely leave this chapter behind me. What would be my best plan of action? Is there any UK clinic that specializes in helping those recovering or recovered from Eating disorders. I have not been to the Dentist for a very long time as I’m afraid of the news I will be told and the likelyhood I wont be able to afford to fix it. I look forward to your response, thanks for your time.,

I snapped my tooth in my teens and had a replacement fitted. Is there anything possible to fix this horrible fake tooth?

Monday, August 23rd, 2010
Q.
Hi. I snapped my front tooth in my teens so had to have another built on (with a screw, if that sounds right?! sorry it was a few years ago) and it is hideous as it’s sometime grey in colour and was fitted a bit wonky. It doesn’t help I have a massive overbite and ‘fangs’ that have turned around 90 degrees. Basically, I have awful teeth! How likely is it that I could have anything fixed, within a reasonable amount of time, with this horrible fake tooth? or even teeth whitening as a short term confidence booster?,

I havent visited a dentist for many years, and my teeth are crooked and discoloured. I don’t want to go through years of orthodontics. Are there more rapid options available?

Monday, August 23rd, 2010
Q.
Hello I havent visited a dentist for many years, I am 27 and am desperate to have somthing done about a crooked, discoloured smile. I went to a dentist approximatly 6 months ago but was disapointed at the response to my question regarding this. I (perhaps a little impaitiantly) would like somhing done that will allow me to smile with confidence again, but really dont want to have to undergo 2-3 years of invisible braces slowly straightening my teath. Is there any more rapid options available?? Many Thanks,
