What can i do about my shrinking gums caused by wearing dentures?

Friday, January 7th, 2011
Q.

Iam 57 years old, have had upper dentures with no frontal gumshield for 13 years,my gums have shrunk and my mouth has a sunken look with little visible teeth on show. What treatment would be the best for me ? I really hate how I now look and have lost my confidence. If possible could you give me some information of the approximate cost of any recommendation you make. I have 10 lower teeth ,having lost the back ones about the same time. I have tried hard to look after what I was born with but inherited poor quality teeth and then having 2 children in early forties took it’s toll. I would be very grateful for any advice. Thank You

I don’t have any enamel on my teeth, what can I do to look after them to prevent losing them?

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011
Q.

Hi there. I was born without any enamel on my teeth and have had years of pain and constant visits to the dentist to have work done. My dentist has never really advised me on what I can do to help keep the decay at bay, although I do follow the hygienist’s advice on brushing and flossing. Can you offer an opinion? The state of my teeth is really affecting my confidence and I am developing a fear of the dentist. My Father lost all his teeth at 17 due to this and I am terrified of the same happening to me (I am now 29). Many thanks!

How can I overcome my fear of the dentist and seek treatment for my broken/rotten teeth?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010
Q.

Hi i have the biggest fear of seeing a dentist. I have had a fear since childhood and the fear has now caused me to have rotten, broken and loss of teeth, I am only 31 and suffer a lot of pain at times but am too embarrassed to see a dentist. I avoid smiling as my teeth don’t do any justice to me. I have no confidence and at times I’m in so much pain i can’t focus on other things due to lack of sleep. Please help!!!

I feel that my crown and bridge might be loose. What can I do?

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010
Q.
I have four crowns on my front teeth that were originally placed there when I was 18 ( now I’m 58) About four years ago a dentist replaced one tooth by a bridge, and also performed an apexectomy which left a “ledge” above the tooth. Now the whole area is feeling mobile but specifically the crown which is holding the bridge. As these are my front teeth I am very anxious about my appearance but the teeth. What can I do ? I don’t have a lot of confidence in my dentist. Thank you,

What can I do to restore my confidence?

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010
Q.
Hello! I am 19 year old student currently in full time education but I am very worried about my teeth. I recently had treatment for acid erosion due to drinking orange and other fruit juice, sometimes running it around my mouth. I am also worried about the gaps between my teeth, which puts me off from smiling, especially in photographs because it is visible. I don’t know what else to do or how to treat it, but I found out that the treatments are very expensive and I don’t think my parents would pay for it. The gaps are lowering my confidence and I constantly cover my mouth when I laugh. What can I do?,

I’ve been wearing veneers since I was left with a black tooth after a fall. Can you help me?

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010
Q.
I have a crown on my front tooth and before that veneers, due to a fall in my mid teens which left me with a blackened tooth. Every picture I am in I home in on my front tooth! Do you give free consultation? I would like to hear your ideas on how you could improve my confidence. It may be that I need minimal work to restore a natural symetrical smile or worst case scenario, thousands of pounds worth of dentistry.,
