After an accident with a horse my teeth were pushed back. I had a hard acrylic mouth guard that the dentist inserted to try to get them to re-root & after a yr I lost it & the teeth started getting sensitive. I had 5 root canals. After talking to many people my father decided we needed to do all 6 front teeth & 6 lower ones so that my teeth weren’t different colours. We decided on dental works because they were the only 1’s that would do all top 6 at once then bottom at once so that they were all from same batch so they would all match. They told us they would do top crowns bottom veneers. A few months the veneers began chipping. I was getting upset & spoke w/a few hygienists where they informed me they should have never put veneers on the bottom. 3 yrs has past, they informed me when I talked w/them about them chipping that I would have to pay out of pocket for them to fix issues as they don’t come w/a warranty. Last month a whole sliver of my top front crown come off. Again they said I would have to pay. At this point I decided I would not pay them & go to a different practice. My appointment is n 3 weeks. Yesterday a whole veneer fell off. I contacted them and started explaining all the issues & that after only 3 years my teeth are falling apart. The dentist that did it was no longer with them. They have agreed to see me and see what we can do. I have a feeling they will only put the veneer back on for free. (It fell off in 1 piece which I still have) I am just wanting feed back on if this is normal and acceptable. Why others have said veneers should not go on the bottom. This has just been awful. We’ve spent $18,000, less than 4 yrs later they are falling apart.

I’ve Spent A Lot On Dental Surgery And Now My Veneers Are Beginning To Chip. Why Is This Happening?
Thursday, November 28th, 2013The Veneers I Had When I Was Younger Are Chipped, How Much Does It Cost To Renew Them?
Friday, October 25th, 2013Hello Dr Hughes, I would like to discuss my problem. I had 18 veneers done when I was 16, I am now 46 years old and although I have looked after my teeth they are receding, chipped a little, and my bite is certainly not the same. Please could you tell me how much this would cost to renew? And also, how long does the process take? Is their finance available as I don’t have enough cash up front as I had my teeth done on NHS as my teeth were black and unsightly? Is your clinic near the North West? Thank you in advance.
Can Old Veneers Be Removed Or Filed Down? Mine Are Too Thick And Don’t Match The Rest Of My Mouth.
Thursday, October 24th, 2013 Can old veneers be removed?
Many years ago I had them fitted and they have always looked too thick. I would like to know if they can be filed down to look slimmer.
I have never had the nerves or the money to do anything about this as I used to suffer from panic attacks and could not face the thought of going to the dentist.
It would be more affordable to me if the teeth I have now could sort of be modernised, like skimmed down so I don’t look as though my teeth are so thick.
They don’t seem to suit the rest of my teeth.
At the time I paid £500 pounds for them at a dentist in Manchester.
I had the teeth done as a result of domestic violence and one tooth was chipped but the other was perfectly okay.
However the dentist said I should have the two of them done for a better result?
I would appreciate your help and guidance.
Kindest regards.
Can I have my old veneers replaced with new ones?
Thursday, November 15th, 2012 I have 12 veneers which where fitted many years ago and some have chipped. I would like to know if they can be replaced and would it cost more as old veneers need to be removed? Also, I have been asked to look at brazil crowns (not sure if right name )instead as they would last longer !
But as my veneers have lasted this long I would be happy to get them again as I’m now 47 years of age so if I get another 15 years from them theres nothing to say my teeth will still be as they are.
Could cosmetic bonding help smooth my chipped veneer?
Monday, May 16th, 2011 I had a veneer six years ago to replace one that broke. The veneer looked very good when fitted colour etc, but immediately upon eating found that the bottom teeth hit the underside of the veneer. Returning to the dentist they then took away some of the back of the veneer, which made eating ok again.
Six months later after eating a piece of hard bread the tooth cracked at one side. Again returning to the dentist they smoothed down the tooth, it was now slightly shorter and rounder.
I did contact the dentist 2 years later who said they would replace it, as I preferred the original veneer, (unfortunately they couldnt find the original mould) but thought the same thing could happen again so I decided to leave it.
However never being entirely happy with this tooth I wondered what your thoughts were, and if cosmetic bonding to fill in the slightly chipped look and to make the tooth slightly longer would work?
The tooth next to the veneer has been aligned slightly with composite bonding that was done at the same time the original veneer was fitted by the dentist.
Thank you.
Is it possible to have a procedure corrected free of charge if it was not the agreed treatment?
Friday, November 19th, 2010I’ve recently (3 days ago) had porcelain veneers on my front two teeth as the bottoms were chipped and the fillings kept breaking off. The dentist fitted porc. veneers as a solution, but filled the gap I didn’t want filled and the teeth are shorter than originally, and now I have a speech impediment as I can’t pronounce the letter F without sounding like Daffy Duck. What are my rights in being able to have these changed at no fee?,
Is there an effective alternative to porcelain veneers?
Friday, April 9th, 2010Is there any effective alternative to porcelain veneers to improve chipped teeth? I have 2 frontal teeth in my upper gum and two in my lower gum that have fairly minor chipping, probably from grinding my teeth when I was younger. The teeth themselves are strong and healthy and hence I do not wish to consider planing them down and replacing them with veneers at this point. Is there any treatment that could “sand” the chipped areas away?,
