I chipped a tooth and the edge is sharp, what do you advise?

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011
Q.

Andrew, I think i’ve chipped a tiny little part of the inner biting edge of my front tooth in the corner off as when I run my tooth vertically between my front teeth it feels like a sharp knife and my tongue feels sore. Is there anything that I can do to get the tooth edge smooth and straight again? Will the sharp edge smooth out in time with brushing or dental polishing or would the edge have to be filed slightly? If something can be done, would I have to get a cosmetic dentist to fix it?. Thanks

What treatment is needed to fix a chipped tooth?

Thursday, February 17th, 2011
Q.

My friend has chipped her front tooth and is an extremely nervous patient. She previosuly had a filling there but it has fallen out, she has been left with a 3rd of her tooth (broken tooth) can you advise what she wil need to get done? She is worried she will need to have it removed etc, do you think the dentist could fill it or put a bridge in?

Many thanks

My daughter had a broken front tooth fixed but is unhappy – what can be done?

Monday, January 24th, 2011
Q.

My daughter had an accident causing the bottom half of one front tooth to break off.
Our dentist has rebuilt this but she is unhappy with the shape and colour of the tooth, and also feels very conscious that this is no longer her tooth.
Is it possible to improve the general appearance, and strengthen the tooth, without resorting to crowns or veneers?

My front dentures are weak but i can’t afford dental treatment, what do you advise?

Q.

Hi Sunita

Im a 22 year old female with a problem thats dragging me further and further downwards, my teeth.
I broke my front two when i was younger and through various negligence from dentists and my parents they were never sorted. I did have a cap on the front left one, but it broke and im now stuck with a denture with two teeth on as the whole was so big for one tooth to go back there, thats what the denture dentist told me. Now thed tooth next to it (the other broken one) is chipped, discolored and looks awful.
As i have never been able to eat using my front teeth, ive always had to use my back ones which has put extra strain on the,m, so there now starting to break away and cause me aggony. I hate the way they look and the restictions they are putting on my life. Ive been asked to do modeling but i will not put my self through the embarresment of the rejection agaisnt all those other girls. Im so down about this and i need help,
I live on my own, no financial help or anything, i do work though but all the prices i have been looking at are way more than i can even image paying, i dont know what to do anymore!!

How much would it cost to repair my broken tooth, my discoloured crown and for hygiene advice?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Q.

Hi. I have a broken front upper tooth (chipped on both edges) also two crowns which are discoloured. I could probably do with a general clean. Would you be able to give me some kind of guide line to how much I might be looking to pay.
Regards.

I have a chipped crown, should i replace it or get an implant?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Q.

5 years ago I had two upper crowns (Empress 2). My orginal teeth were lost as a child and prior to these had metal backed crowns. 3 Years ago one of the tooths had root canal. That same crown is now chipped and needs replacement. Question is whether its viable to replace the crown, if that’s indeed possible, or a complete implant ?
