I have been in Central America and my tooth has broken. It is so bad that I can now see the root. What will become of the gum once the tooth is removed?

Q.
About 1 year ago a very old filling in a molar fell out. I was in central america at the time and was reluctant to see a dentist. I am still in central america and since then the tooth has broken and the gums on the outer portion surrouding this tooth have worn away. It has gotten so bad that I can now see the root. I know that I must have the tooth removed but would like some advice as to what will become of the gums surrounding this tooth? Thank you for your attention to this matter.,

Are there any alternatives to dental veneers which are affordable?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I had a porcelain veneer put in last year but some of it has now chipped off. As the enamel from that tooth has been ground down is there any alternative to veneers which are affordable? (My dentist has said that a crown would not be possible on that tooth due to there not being enough original tooth left)

Should I get a second opinion?

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
Q.
Following an abscess (and antibiotics) I had a root canal filling in October last year. My dentist told me that he hadn’t been able to fill all of it due to the location of the tooth. Recently a piece of this tooth broke off and I have more pain which he said wasn’t caused by the tooth breaking off. I am on another course of antibiotics and he says that it’s probably not worth trying to fill the tooth again and only option may be extraction which will cost between £400/£500! I have a morbid fear of dentists and cannot tolerate an xray being taken. I am due to return next week but I am dreading what he will say, should I get a second opinion?,

How much would one back tooth implant cost?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010
Q.
Hello Justin I had a back tooth removed last week, which had broken in half. The original treatment should have been root canal treatment, but the dentist advised removing the tooth and having an implant fitted. I had treatment under sedation, as I’m phobic of dental treatment and suffer anxiety. My question is, was this the correct way forward and how much should one back tooth implant cost. Many thanks.

Should I have my tooth rebuilt or extracted?

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010
Q.
I have an upper molar that had a root canal done many years about, late last year about 1/3 of the tooth itself broke off in pieces and I had a tempory seal/cap put on it. What would be the best solution now? remove the tooth or have it rebuilt? And the approximate costs of the options. Thanks in advance,
