Can My Protruding Teeth be Treated Without Braces?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I am a 20 year old girl. My front top four teeth face outward and slanted. They are bigger than usual teeth and also have no gap between them. I cannot close my mouth completely when I smile. My pictures do not look good because of this. Is there any dental procedure to make them right so that my front teeth can face inward and I can smile properly? It should be without the involvement of braces and less expensive. If so then please answer my question. Thank you.

How Can I Fix a Slight Gap Between My Teeth?

Tuesday, November 4th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I had braces for two and a half years and they have been off now for six years. I wear my retainer every night. But on my front two teeth, if I put my nail between them, there is a very slight gap. This bothers me because it seems they are not as tightly together as they once were. I don’t want the gap to get bigger and I don’t want braces again! But it isn’t that bad. I mean it is very small, but it matters to me. Why would this happen? What can I do to fix it? I know I need a new retainer made but will that fix it? Thank you.

I Have A Maryland Bridge That Falls Off On A Regular Basis. Is There Anything More Permanent That Can Be Done?

Friday, October 24th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Hughes.
I had braces as a teenager to move my canine teeth from beside my front two teeth where they originally grew. This then left a gap and I have had a Maryland bridge in place for a few years. This continues to fall off on a regular basis. On previous X-rays the dentist has said my root above will not allow me to have an implant in place. Although this would be my preferred choice. Is there anything more permanent that can be done? Is an implant an option if the other teeth with the root obstructing is also removed and an implant inserted? Please inform of any options.
Also I am having to have a root canal on the front tooth due to trauma injury which will mean the bridge will have to be removed. Can anything including this be done on the same day?
Thanks.

I Want To Have Braces To Close The Gap In The Middle Of My Smile. Are Braces Safe?

Monday, October 20th, 2014
Q.

Hi Marcus. I need to have a tooth extracted and cosmetic bonding on my teeth as I’ve got a tooth under my gum. Is this safe to remove, as I am a little scared? I need to have this treatment done because I have a gap in the middle tooth and I want braces to close the gap, I was advised to this before I put braces on my teeth, so please could you advise me on what to do? Is it safe and what can I expect in terms of price when having such an operation.
Thank you.

After Years Of Braces Treatment, I Still Have A Deep Overbite. I’d Like Some Feedback On What My Options Are?

Thursday, October 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello there,

I’m a 24 years old with a deep overbite and since having my braces removed (After 4 years of multiple types of braces) 10 years ago, my teeth have since moved and some are actually in a worse position than they were before I had braces. My overbite was never corrected despite having braces that pulled my jaw forward uncomfortably for months.
I’m becoming increasingly self conscious about my profile and the appearance of my teeth, but these are just cosmetic issues. My jaw aches after eating tough foods like meat and it’s so uncomfortable to bite down properly and make my back teeth touch.

I’m not a full time students with incredibly limited funds but I feel like this is something I have to get corrected for my own health and wellbeing. I’d like some feedback on what my options are in terms of making my teeth and jaw feel more comfortable and natural to me. As I have very little money to spare, if I can afford it, I’d rather correct my overbite before my crooked and protruding teeth as it causes physical pain and discomfort.

Thank you.

My Teeth Are Migrating And I’ve Been Given Conflicting Advice. What Should I Do?

Wednesday, October 15th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have been informed that my teeth will ‘migrate’. I know this is very rare. 2 years ago, I had a mould taken with my dentist and last month, I had another mould taken for comparison. All of my teeth have seemed to move to the side a bit, especially the front, middle section of teeth. Some dentists have advised me to have braces. But some other dentists have advised me not to do so because it may affect the gum. I would like to know how I can solve this problem. It doesn’t cause me any pain, but I’m afraid if I don’t do anything about it, it will become more serious. In a few years time all my teeth might move inward. What can I do? Please advise me on this. Thank you for your time.

I Have Just Had Braces But My Teeth Are Barely Visible When I Smile. Who Should I Speak To For This?

Monday, October 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. First of all I am not who to contact about my problem; a maxillofacial surgeon, cosmetic dentist, my orthodontist, a facial plastic surgeon or
a combination of both. I just had my braces removed and I now have clear retainers.
Before I had braces two of my upper teeth were extracted. The problem is when I talk or smile my teeth are not visible
vertically and horizontally. I have to force my smile to see my teeth which looks unnatural. My nose droops downward, and looks
out of proportion when I smile, so I may need a rhinoplasty. I can provide pictures if needed. Thanks.

My Teeth Have Grown Misaligned. Would It Be Possible For Me To Have Straighter Teeth?

Friday, October 10th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr. Mark Hughes!

If may I ask, I have some few question for you about teeth and my gums.

First things is, is it possible for me to have straighter teeth as mine have grown inward and some teeth have grown outward? I have this one tooth in front that is not aligned with the others which really bothers me when I smile, laugh or just talk and this tooth really stands out.

Plus the formation of my front teeth are outward. I just want to ask if my teeth could still be fixed?

Hoping for your reply.

Thanks in advance!

I Have Two Missing Front Teeth And I Would Like To Know How Much It Will Cost For A Dental Implant?

Friday, October 10th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes. Good afternoon, I just want to ask you about how much it’ll cost for dental implant? I have two missing teeth at the front. This makes smiling or taking a photograph on social occasions very difficult and I would like to have this fixed. Could braces close this gap or would it have to be a dental implant? And do you know of any special offers for this type of treatment. Thank you for your time in advance.

My Two Front Teeth Stand Out More Than My Others. They Sometimes Cause Me Pain. What Can I Do?

Wednesday, October 8th, 2014
Q.

Hi there, Dr Gambroudes. My upper front two teeth stick out a lot more than my other ones and they are significantly bigger whilst also being bent. I’m 20 years old now so I doubt there’s much chance they’ll fix themselves now. I think they’ve been like this for quite a while now but its only begun annoying me in the past year as I’ve become really self conscious. I also suffer from pain in these two teeth on and off. If I wanted to go about fixing this what are my options? I really suffer from a lack of self confidence as I’ve become more and more aware about these problems. Thanks.
