Im having bone augmentation and im experiencing extreme pain what could be causing this?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi After having bone augumentation two weeks ago I am experiencing pain, (like throbbing pressure), headaches, inner ear problems (buzzy, blocked ear,but no pain) above the area where the proceedure took place. My dentist said that I should not be experiencing pain now and that it should be settling down. He has not offered to Xray the area again but did offer me a course of antibiotics. He was concerned that I should be feeling discomfort after all this time but did not offer any answers to my discomfort. What could be causing this? Many Thanks

I have been told that i have gum disease and i have a gap between my teeth what can be done

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009
Q.
I have been told that i have gum disease dispite the fact that i clean my teeth as advised by my dentist and that i now have lost of bone approx 50%. a few years ago i went to the dentist to get a repair on a front crown that had chipped, it was only when i returned home that i found that i now had a gap in my teeth that hadnt been there since i was a teenager which i had braces for to correct. i was very upset and still am as my dentist refused to do anything about it until on each of my check ups i requested him to help me as i am constantly aware of this gap, plus the tooth next to it started to move on a slight angle. i made an appointment for following week and was excited to think i was finally getting this fixed and i would be able to smile again. one week later he and his colleague told me i now had gum disease, surely this would have been picked up earlier if it was bad enough to cause this amount of bone loss. then i was told i couldnt have any dental work that could help the appearance of my teeth because of this. i have been to dental hospital to confirm this. my dentist said he couldnt find my xrays but that my teeth must have had bit of gap before had!!! which they didnt. is there anyone who can help me as this affects me deeply and daily, is there anything i can do, i am scared of the dentist but would go through almost anything to have teeth that dont embarrass me.

I just noticed that my mouth palate is hard and it outward Is it abnormal bone growth

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009
Q.
I just noticed that my mouth palate is hard and it outward, I am not sure how long I have had this but I did have braces about four years ago and I am worried. Does this have anything to do with braces or is it an abnormal bone growth? It does not hurt at all but a few months ago after noticing the problem, that part of my mouth was sore like when you get burned and it was hard for me to eat, I rinsed with peroxide and in a couple of days it was back to normal.

is it possible to place an implant after bone grafting in my lower left second molar

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
I’m 1 31 year old female and (due to dental negligence) am likely to need my lower left second molar extracting. I’m wondering if it’s always possible to place an implant here – I’m prepared to have bone grafts and so on but I’m really worried that even with this treatment an implant might not be possible in this region. I’ll obviously have a consultation with a specialist in implant dentistry but, for now, could you let me know if an implant can usually be placed here (followig grafting etc). Many thanks.

i play a brass instrument will i be able have the dental implant with causing damage?

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
Hello Andrew I lost one of my front teeth (gum disease) and have had a cantilever bridge from the other for about 10 years. This has now started to move and x-rays reveal further bone loss although my dentist says that I keep my mouth really clean ( hygienist every 3 months, expensive electric toothbrush, disclosing tablets etc). The gum around the tooth that the bridge is attached to keeps bleeding and this is causing me some embarassment as well as staining my pillow at night. I had a referral to a local NHS dental hospital (I have a private dental plan) who suggested adjusting the bridge at the back and getting a night guard made (?) as he thought I was grinding and pushing the tooth away. Think that this is not an option now as the tooth is dropping and I cannot bite at all with it. I am considering dental implants but concerned about how long they will last- as I have bone loss anyway. Where will the bone be added from? How will I look whilst the bone is being grafted? My dentist says that they will cost about £2500 each – is this because he thinks I will need the bone graft and so it will be more expensive. Don’t really want to extend my bridge and destroy another 2 (relatively)healthy teeth- he thinks that as well as 2 front teeth I will need to remove the ones next to them and bridge from my incisors. I also play a brass instrument- will I be able to after the implant without causing damage?

My tooth was removed leaving the roots behind, to minimize bone loss

Saturday, April 4th, 2009
Q.
I recently had a lower right molar removed when root treatment failed & as it has an opposing tooth, I asked about the possibility of an implant. The tooth was removed leaving the roots behind, to minimize bone loss I was told but when I was referred to an implant specialist, she was surprised to see the roots. I’ve just had the roots removed and I’m left feeling that I’ve been charged twice for the same thing. Surely bone loss happens over a longer timescale than just a few months?
