How Can I Overcome My Phobia to Get the Treatment I Need?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2015
Q.

Hello I am 52 and have several problem teeth, either with cavities or broken. I have already lost 3 teeth and have been told another will have to come out. My mouth is constantly in pain from rotting teeth and bad gums. The problem is though, I am scared to death of dentists, last time I had anaesthetic I had a mini stroke in the chair and ended up in hospital. I am thinking I would like a new set of teeth, preferably implants, but know while my gums are the way they are, this is becoming less of a possibility. In the end the problem is so big, I am just taking pain killers constantly and hiding from the problem. What should I do?

I have a drooping eyelid after a crown procedure, is this normal?

Thursday, August 25th, 2011
Q.

I received a Cerec crown on my #19 tooth about five weeks ago.
Because of the great discomfort I experienced afterwards, even after adjustments, my dentist has agreed to replace the crown with a “regular” one. However, shortly after the Cerec procedure I developed a drooping eyelid on the same side of my face. Could any aspect of the procedure have caused this? The amount of spray used seemed excessive and the wanding procedure took much longer than I had been led to expect and involved a lot of very uncomfortable tugging of areas around my mouth and cheeks. What is the content of the spray? Could the wanding have effected my facial muscles? Have you heard of any similar experiences?
Thank you, Doctor
