Hi Andrew. My daughter has significant gap between her front upper and lower teeth. She has had a separator and started the process of braces only to discover she is allergic to the metal. Our orthodontist has said that there are no options other than plastic, that some parts have to be metal. Do you have any any suggestions please, she wants her to take prednisone to suppress her reaction and I am worried about that as an option? She has said some parts can be ceramic but the back parts that anchor the braces have to be made of metal. Thank you for your time.

My Daughter Is Allergic To The Metal In Fixed Braces. Is There Any Other Brace Type She Can Wear?
Thursday, May 8th, 2014I Would Like To Have Inman Aligner Treatment But I’m Allergic To Nickel. Can I Have Them Without Nickel?
Tuesday, April 1st, 2014Dear Dr Riten Patel,
I would like to straighten my front four lower teeth. Having researched all of the various options I have decided that I am most interested in the Inman Aligners as they offer quick results, are reasonably priced and are removable.
However, could you please tell me if the metal used is nickel, as I am allergic to it? If so, can they be made without nickel and would that add to the cost of the treatment?
What are my options please?
Many thanks in advance for your answer. I look forward to hearing your reply.
I have a cough that developed after my titanium implant, could this be a cause?
Friday, March 18th, 2011I Have just had a titanium implant and have developed a productive cough with wheeze that is not responding to any medical or natural therapies. This cough developed 2 day after implant and i have now had it for 5 months. I have a horriable feeling that the procedure although sucessful has somehow caused a reaction in my system producing these symptoms. I have never had a chest infection or asthma or sinus problems before this. Can you please advise or give me some answers.
My daughter had braces fitted in January and swollen gums and other problems soon followed. Was this an allergic reaction?
Wednesday, August 11th, 2010My daughter (10) had braces fitted in January. After a week or so she developed small marks, resembling cold sores, on either side of her mouth. They gradually have become much larger and unsightly. I have been told they are not cold sores but maybe connected with the braces. She also has very swollen gums. I am very strict with her oral hygiene and we do everything as we have been directed but the problems is not improving. Last week our orthodontist removed her braces and asked us to return in 1 month. Her mouth and gums have started to cleared up since the metal bar was removed. Could she be allergic to the metal or could it be how we are taking care of her teeth?,
