Should I get an implant or a fixed bridge for the front of my mouth?

Q.
I have been advised by my dentist that an implant for one of my front teeth that has been removed will offer no significant aesthetic or functional benefits to a fixed bridge, given that I am having the teeth adjacent to the front tooth concerned crowned as part of a wider cosmetic dentistry plan. My dentist says that the additional costs associated with an implant would not be justified in my particular case.
Do you consider that the aesthetic results from implants are always more natural than the potential results from a fixed bridge-I am a little apprehensive about a fixed bridge looking false and “joined up”
Many thanks
A.
These are very good questions. It depends, in some cases the implant will produce a far superior result, but in the right hands of course. The same could be true of the bridge. Without seeing your situation it’s impossible to advise which would be the very best route to take. If your lip is low down when you smile and the necks of your teeth and the gums cannot be seen then the bridge is probably the way to go. If in doubt go and get a second opinion from a very experienced implant dentist or cosmetic dentist….
