Should I Ask My Dentist For Dental Implants?

Q.
Hi Dr Butt. I was wondering if you could help me with something? A few years ago I had a bottom molar removed and the one next to it was removed a few months after. Since then I’ve had a large gap there and nothing has been suggested to fill it, my dentist has never recommended anything. I’ve been looking into dental implants because I feel like my jaw on that side is slipping slightly due to no support. Do you think I need dental implants? Or am I being a little drastic? As I said my dentist has said nothing about the gap, I thought maybe a partial denture? But I am looking for something more permanent. Can you have implants to replace two teeth? I was led to believe it was for a whole row? Thanks.
A.
Hello, thanks for your question. If you were to opt for implants, then they the would certainly help maintain bone levels and can be done for 2 teeth, so my advice would be to definitely consider them. What I would suggest is bring it up with your dentist so that they can detail whether implants would be suitable for you as they can comment on the specifics of your mouth.
