Receeding and loose tooth due to low bone density.
Q. I have been told that my bone density is very low and as a result have a loose tooth and receding gums, what can be done, im 45
A. If the tooth needs to come out you could consider a dental implant. a a rule though bone density is less important than the way you look after your teeth, your diet and oral hygiene procedures and the condition of the gums. I would find out if this is a general problem rather than a localised one, if the gums are receeding you may need to consider gum treatment to save the rest of the teeth.

i have told by a dentist that my teeth have bone loss problem and my gum and bone structure were too weak to hold braces if i want to straighten my teeth, i was wonder is there a way to treat this problem like changing my diet or personal care on it to rebuild my bone?? the doctor didnt encourage me to do braces and felt that i should feel relieve as my teeth still hold until now.
I have been taking medication for osteoporosis for a number of years but my teeth have gradually become loose and dentist advised loss of bone and therefore not suitable for bridges or implants. Also denture not possible as there is nothing for the denture to link to – what options are there as surely something can be done rather than having no teeth – how are you supposed to eat?
