What is the best procedure to close a gap between my teeth?

January 31st, 2008
Q.
Dr Solanki, I have gum disease due to illness as a child and prolonged use of penicillin, I have treatment for this but it doesn’t seem to work that well and I now have a pronounced gap between my front two teeth. Please can you tell me what procedure is best to close or fill the gap and give me back my confidence and smile.
F.

What can be done to make my smile bigger ? ….veneers or orthodontics

January 31st, 2008
Q.
Hi, My main concern with my smile is that my mouth seems very small and when i smile you cant see my teeth as my lips cover them. Is it possible to get a more prominent smile or a “bigger smile” so my teeth show more? Many thanks G.T.

Hi, I am a 24 year old student nurse and i am in utter despair about my smile. I have three broken teeth, whihc keep on crumbling. This occured after having a mild eating disorder a few years ago. I also have teeth which stick out, which are large in appearance and i have a front gap. I am a smily person and am desperate to be able to smile properly without feeling embarressed. I am also concerned as i am aware that dental treatment is expensive..what financial help do you offer. Thankyou. Kind regards, L

January 31st, 2008
Q.
I have had alot of fillings over the years in my molars and I hate the way they look. I also had lower braces when I was younger which straightened my lower teeth but I am still unhappy with my upper teeth, they arent really crooked but I am unhappy with them. What would you recomend? My friend is a dentist and has mentioned lumineers? How much do they cost on average? M.N.

I was told i needed braces as a child, I have crooked teeth I want a straight row of pearly whites, what are my options and how much will it cost ?

January 31st, 2008
Q.
As a child I was told I would need braces, but for this I needed to have several teeth removed as I have too many teeth. This frightened me when I was young and I refused. Over the years I have always been concious about my smile and I try not to smile as much as possible so that I can hide my teeth. Now that I am 21 I feel that this behaviour is foolish and yet I still wont smile! My teeth overlap and my canines are so prominant that I look like a vampire. I want to have a perfectly straight row of pearly whites, but I\’m unsure of what treatments I would need. I dont want to have adult braces that have to be in for years. I would like to get the whole thing over and done with asap so I can actually smile with pride to all my friends and family. What can I do to acheive this and how much will it cost me? I would like to do this as close to home as possible.

Invisalign for protruding teeth …can you cut my front teeth?

January 31st, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki, Hi I am thinking of getting invisalign braces. The problem with my teeth are that I have protruding teeth, ‘buck teeth’. The two front teeth are quite big in comparision to my mouth’s remaining teeth. Would it be possible when straightening the teeth, that the two protruding teeth can be cut? Looking at images on the net, is seems that when the protruding teeth are straightened, they will overlap the bottom teeth, disproprtionately. Many thanks. B.K.

I dont want a mouth full of metal …do clear braces work as well?

January 31st, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr Patel, I was offered braces as a teenages as i have ‘fangs’ on my top row of teeth and a very uneven bottom set, but told by an orthodontist I didn’t really need them. My regular dentist has never let this go however, and I am starting to agree. I am 21 and don’t want to have a mouth full of metal when I finish Uni and apply for city based jobs in London. The gaps between my top and bottom rows are too noticable to me in photos though and I would like to do something about them. I have read about the clear braces that are like a thin mouthgard and also about the traintracks that fit around the back of the teeth. But do these actually work as well and are they, along with the regular check ups, hidiously expensive? Thanks!

I have crooked teeth and baby milk teeth is my case too severe for Invislign I dont want metal braces or could I have full Veneers?

January 31st, 2008
Q.
Hi Dr Patel. I am a 20 year old woman and am serverely distressed at the state of my teeth. I have very overcrowded teeth on the bottom rown, and at the top I have incisors either side of the middle 4 which are high above the level of the other teeth, along with this I also have 2 ‘milk teeth’ which are sitting behind new teeth which have never fallen out! I work in a very social position and do not wish to have a mouth of metal braces to be seen for all. I have read up about invisalign and am v interested in it , and am just not sure whether my case is too severe!!I would if not consider full cosmetic veneers, but again I am not sure whether the only option I have will be wire braces. please help.
