My tooth is really sensitive after having a crown fitted, what should I do?
Q.
Hello Doctor,
Hello Doctor,
I recently had a porcelain cap fitted to a molare, as the tooth weakened and cracked. Unfortunately the dentist did not fit the tooth right into the gum now my mouth feels as though it is “alive” I cannot touch it without leaping in the air and it throbs for ages afterwards – it is the most horrendous tooth ache! i have tried sensitive tooth based rubbed around the gum edge – but it is not working. Is this normal? What can I do? Thank you for your time
A.
Hello and thank you for your enquiry. I would suggest speaking to and seeing your dentist as soon as possible, if there is a small space where the crown meets the tooth, you should have this crown changed over as soon as possible. It is also possible that the crack was a little bit deeper and the tooth requires some further treatment. Either way it is better to see them sooner rather than later.
Good luck
